Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia group, marked the occasion of National Transportation Day 2023 with various environmental conservation activities through the Clean Sea and Port Movement program in the Terminal for Own Needs (TUKS) area.

Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, announced on Sunday in Gresik, East Java, that Petrokimia Gresik has implemented the Green Port concept in the port it manages. The Petrokimia Gresik port must continually maintain all activities free from various environmental waste that could hinder port operations. With a well-maintained port environment, the company aims to empower the local community, particularly fishermen, by utilizing natural resources around the port.

“The TUKS Petrokimia Gresik's operation is not only inter-island but also international. The implementation of the Green Port principle in port operational activities through various environmental conservation activities also impacts the company's performance at the international level," emphasized Dwi Satriyo.

On the occasion of the National Transportation Day 2023, environmental conservation activities in the port area were conducted by Petrokimia Gresik in collaboration with the Gresik Class II Harbor Master's Office and Port Authority (KSOP). These activities included the inauguration of an Eco-Drop Box in the port area for waste sorting and management. Other activities involved the release of fish seeds and tree planting in the port's surrounding area.

"We also conducted a port and sea cleanup from existing waste as an effort to improve the cleanliness both on land and in the waters of the port's working environment. This activity continues our routine efforts in line with the Green Port concept, which aims to minimize liquid waste pollution, domestic waste, and Hazardous and Toxic Materials (B3) waste," said Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, the Green Port concept makes the port management process at Petrokimia Gresik more effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly, thereby optimizing the Cost Reduction program implemented by the company.

The Green Port concept regulates efforts to improve efficient energy management in the port. Some implementations include the use of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) for buildings and offices, the use of electric motorcycles, replacing conventional lighting with LEDs, implementing green building practices, and other programs.

In addition to energy efficiency, the Green Port concept is also implemented through the improvement of the cleanliness of land and water in the port's working environment. In recognition of these commitments, Petrokimia Gresik received the Best Port award at the 2022 Green Port Award organized by the Ministry of Transportation.

"Green Port has become a necessity for Petrokimia Gresik as one of the instruments to enhance business competitiveness and become a sustainable company by prioritizing environmental care in its operations," concluded Dwi Satriyo.
