Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions Company under the Pupuk Indonesia holding group, is encouraging 15 fostered Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) to level up and become competitive in international markets. One of the support programs is the “Independent Export MSME Workshop,” held in Gresik, East Java, recently.

President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, stated that the implementation of the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program follows a sustainable MSME development model, which includes capacity building, market development, and management assistance.

“This workshop serves as one of the efforts to help MSMEs expand into international markets by equipping them with the ability to manage the entire process, starting from identifying buyers, correspondence, negotiation, financial administration, to export and logistics management, both offline and digitally,” said Daconi.

Meanwhile, Vice President (VP) of Social & Environmental Responsibility, Kadek Ardhika WK, added that the workshop was attended by 15 MSMEs with a total of 29 participants. The materials were delivered by experienced experts in their respective fields.

The participating MSMEs include Batik Bangsawan, Batik Zulpah, Tenun Gedog Zaenal, Batik Sariwarni, OG Jewelry, Djasmine Bordir, Madu Tasman, Tape Crispy, Bawang Goreng Hunay, Rebana Gresik Tiga Putri, Sarung BTM, Omah Tiwul, Tirta Shanum, Tarnie’s Leather, and Deweluxe. These MSMEs represent industries such as fashion, crafts, and culinary products.

They originate from various regions across East Java and Central Java, including Gresik, Sidoarjo, Madura, Bondowoso, Probolinggo, Malang, Tuban, Madiun, Pacitan, Magetan, and Kudus.

“We acknowledge that with the global economic challenges and downward trends, securing buyer interest is not an easy task. However, we hope this workshop will help MSME players sharpen their ability to identify market opportunities and strengthen their understanding of tips and strategies to enter the export market,” Kadek concluded.

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions company under the Pupuk Indonesia holding group, together with Commission VII of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), continues to strengthen synergy to ensure the availability of subsidized fertilizers as part of a joint effort to achieve national food self-sufficiency. This was conveyed by the Director of Operations and Production of Petrokimia Gresik, Majus Luther Sirait, representing President Director Daconi Khotob, following a specific working visit by Commission VII in Gresik, East Java, recently.

Luther stated that this year the Government has carried out various transformations in the governance of subsidized fertilizer distribution, including reducing the Highest Retail Price (HET) by 20 percent. In response, Petrokimia Gresik, together with Pupuk Indonesia, supports the implementation of this policy by preparing sufficient subsidized fertilizer stock in accordance with regulations for registered farmers.

"Especially now, as several regions enter the rainy season and farmers begin planting. We have ensured sufficient subsidized fertilizer stock in distribution warehouses at the regency/city level across Indonesia, ready to be redeemed by farmers," Luther said.

He added that Petrokimia Gresik plays a significant role in ensuring the availability of subsidized fertilizers, particularly Urea, NPK, and ZA, which serve as the backbone of productivity in the agricultural sector.

As of November 20, 2025, Petrokimia Gresik has prepared a national subsidized fertilizer stock of 299,369 tons. This consists of 26,519 tons of Urea, 224,417 tons of NPK Phonska, 42,938 tons of organic fertilizer, and 5,496 tons of ZA. This stock is sufficient to meet farmers' needs for the next three weeks.

"We hope farmers can optimize the absorption of subsidized fertilizers. Stock is available and prices have also been reduced as of October 22. The Government has issued many policies that greatly benefit farmers in support of national food self-sufficiency," Luther continued.

He acknowledged that the effectiveness of distribution, accuracy of targeting, and accountability at Line III and Line IV facilities are essential to ensuring farmers' confidence and maintaining the stability of national food prices.

Meanwhile, Commission VII has strong concern for national food security, industrial efficiency, critical capacity utilization, and non-energy cost structures. Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII DPR RI, Evita Nursanty, expressed appreciation for the performance of Petrokimia Gresik and Pupuk Indonesia in distributing subsidized fertilizers, noting that issues typically encountered in the field have now been resolved. The Government has increased the allocation of subsidized fertilizers to 9.55 million tons in 2025.

"The fertilizer shortages that used to occur in various regions have now decreased because the allocation has been increased," she said.

Furthermore, she urged Petrokimia Gresik to maintain fertilizer availability, especially during the planting season. According to her, fertilizer is a vital input in achieving national food self-sufficiency.

"It is currently planting season, so I remind you to ensure there is no shortage of stock in warehouses. Fertilizer unavailability during planting season would have severe consequences for our farmers," she emphasized.

Commission VII also reaffirmed its commitment to continue advocating for fertilizer industry gas prices to remain at USD 6.5 per MMBTU in 2026. This is part of Commission VII’s commitment to strengthening national food security.

"Gas has always been a major challenge in the industry. We will continue to encourage Petrokimia Gresik to secure its gas supply," she concluded.

Performance Meeting Target

Furthermore, she explained that this working visit was a strategic opportunity for the company to provide a comprehensive overview of its performance, challenges, and readiness in carrying out the national food security mandate, strengthening the petrochemical fertilizer industry, and supporting SMEs and national industrial ecosystems.

In front of Commission VII, Luther reported that Petrokimia Gresik’s operational performance up to October 2025 had met the targets outlined in the Company Work Plan and Budget (RKAP). The company's total production—both fertilizer and non-fertilizer products—reached 6.36 million tons, or 115 percent of the RKAP target.

"We hope the collaboration between Petrokimia Gresik and Commission VII will continue to strengthen in our shared effort to achieve national food self-sufficiency in line with the vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, as stated in Asta Cita," Luther concluded.

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions company under the Pupuk Indonesia holding group, has been awarded “The Most Committed Corporate in Circular Economy” at the 2025 Indonesian Circular Economy Award (ICEA). The award was symbolically received by Petrokimia Gresik’s Director of Operations and Production, Majus Luther Sirait, in Bali recently. Luther stated that this achievement was earned because three of Petrokimia Gresik’s innovations received the Platinum Award category. These innovations further strengthen Petrokimia Gresik’s position as a company consistently implementing circular economy principles and environmentally friendly technologies.

“We would like to express our gratitude, as our breakthroughs in reducing carbon emissions or decarbonization—particularly through circular economy strategies have received recognition from stakeholders. This award certainly further motivates us, the entire Petrokimia Gresik workforce, to continue innovating in support of the Government’s target of achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050,” said Luther.

The three innovations that received the Platinum Award include the implementation of INTHERVAL (Integrated Thermal Valorization System) technology, which optimizes the utilization of waste gas as fuel across several boiler facilities. The next innovation is the application of the Jet Scrubber Hightech System at the ZK Plant, which successfully reduced hydrochloric acid (HCl) gas emissions while simultaneously increasing the production of liquid HCl.

Lastly, the development of the Advanced Post-Scrubber System was carried out to reduce hydrogen fluoride (HF) emissions and increase the recovery of H₂SiF₆ (fluorosilicic acid) at the Phosphoric Acid Plant. Fluorosilicic acid is widely used in various industrial applications, such as drinking water fluoridation, aluminum fluoride production, and cement hardening.

He explained that these innovations represent Petrokimia Gresik's strategy to minimize environmental impact resulting from plant operations through a Green Industry and sustainable approach. These breakthroughs also reaffirm Petrokimia Gresik’s commitment as an environmentally responsible company.

“The implementation of circular economy at Petrokimia Gresik focuses on converting by-products into value-added products. What was initially a cost center—part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions has now successfully created added value while offering concrete solutions to preserve the company’s environmental ecosystem,” Luther concluded.

Petrokimia Gresik Strengthens Legal Collaboration with Gresik District Attorney to Enhance Good Corporate Governance

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions Company under the Pupuk Indonesia holding group, has once again partnered with the Gresik District Attorney’s Office (Kejari Gresik) to strengthen the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and support the smooth distribution of subsidized fertilizers throughout Indonesia. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was carried out by the Director of Risk Management of Petrokimia Gresik, Johanes Barus, and the Head of Gresik District Attorney’s Office, Yanuar Utomo, in Gresik recently.

Johanes expressed his appreciation for the continuous support provided by the Gresik District Attorney’s Office toward the company’s performance. The collaboration between Petrokimia Gresik and Kejari Gresik has been established since 2014, followed by the signing of memoranda of understanding in 2016, 2019, and 2022, and now reaffirmed through this latest MoU.

“In achieving national food self-sufficiency, strong collaboration among stakeholders is essential, and one of our key partners is the Gresik District Attorney’s Office,” said Johanes.

He further emphasized the importance of strengthening synergy with law enforcement institutions. Through its Civil and State Administration Division (DATUN), Kejari Gresik has played a significant role in providing legal support to the company including legal assistance, legal advice, and guidance in resolving civil and state administrative matters.

“The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding serves as a form of strengthened legal collaboration and a preventive effort by the company to mitigate legal risks and potential disputes,” Johanes added.

In addition, Kejari Gresik also provided legal briefings to Grade I officials aimed at enhancing understanding, capacity, and awareness in decision-making processes that carry legal implications. This initiative is expected to further reinforce the company’s legal foundation and promote a culture of compliance across all levels of the organization.

“We hope that the synergy between Petrokimia Gresik and the Gresik District Attorney’s Office will not stop at the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, but will continue to evolve into a productive, sustainable partnership that delivers tangible benefits for the corporation, stakeholders, and ultimately contributes positively to achieving national food self-sufficiency,” Johanes concluded.

Solusi tersebut disampaikan oleh Senior Vice President (SVP) Teknologi & K3LH, Bambang Ariwibowo yang membahas tentang strategi atau roadmap kedepan yang akan dijalankan perusahaan dalam mendukung upaya dekarbonisasi. Sementara Vice President (VP) Lingkungan Hidup, Bagus Eka Saputra mempresentasikan ekosistem inovasi yang telah dijalankan Petrokimia Gresik untuk menghadapi perubahan iklim dunia. Keduanya hadir mewakili Direktur Utama Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob.

Secara terpisah, Daconi Khotob menjelaskan bahwa Petrokimia Gresik mengoperasikan 36 pabrik dengan total kapasitas produksi tahunan mencapai 11 juta ton, mencakup produk pupuk dan nonpupuk. Ekosistem produksi yang masif ini tentu memiliki dampak lingkungan. Oleh karena itu, sejak tahun 2021, Petrokimia Gresik telah aktif menjalankan berbagai inisiatif dekarbonisasi yang didukung oleh strategi Ekonomi Sirkular.

"Penerapan Ekonomi Sirkular di Petrokimia Gresik berfokus pada pemanfaatan produk samping (byproduct) menjadi produk bernilai tambah," ujar Daconi. "Yang awalnya merupakan cost center sebagai bagian dari komitmen kami mengurangi emisi karbon, kini berhasil menciptakan nilai tambah sekaligus menawarkan solusi konkret dalam menjaga kelestarian lingkungan perusahaan."

Ia menambahkan, dampak positif yang dihasilkan dari strategi ini meliputi peningkatan kualitas lingkungan, penurunan potensi risiko kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja, serta terciptanya lingkungan kerja yang lebih nyaman dan kondusif.

Sementara itu, SVP Teknologi, Bambang Ariwibowo, merincikan implementasi strategi tersebut, antara lain melalui: Optimalisasi Gipsum, produk samping dari proses produksi, untuk diolah lebih lanjut; Pemanfaatan Fly Ash Bottom Ash (FABA); Pemanfaatan Karbon Dioksida (CO2) untuk produksi dry ice dan lainnya.

"Kami memaksimalkan seluruh potensi produk samping agar tidak terbuang, melainkan diubah menjadi bahan baku atau energi alternatif yang mendukung efisiensi dan keberlanjutan operasional kami," jelas Bambang.

Salah satu inovasi signifikan adalah pemanfaatan FABA sebagai bahan baku pengisi (filler) pupuk NPK, menggantikan clay (tanah liat). Berdasarkan hasil uji coba, penggunaan FABA sebagai pengganti clay dalam pupuk NPK terbukti tetap memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Aplikasi pupuk NPK dengan FABA pada tanaman padi juga menunjukkan kualitas hasil yang setara dengan pupuk NPK tanpa FABA.

Bahan baku filler pupuk NPK umumnya adalah white clay yang didapatkan melalui proses penambangan. Dengan memanfaatkan FABA yang merupakan limbah padat, Petrokimia Gresik tidak hanya mengurangi ketergantungan pada bahan tambang baru, tetapi juga meningkatkan efisiensi produksi secara berkelanjutan.

"FABA memiliki karakteristik dan kandungan yang setara dengan clay. Inovasi ini secara langsung meningkatkan daya saing pupuk NPK yang kami produksi, sehingga manfaatnya juga optimal dirasakan oleh petani sebagai konsumen utama kami," tutup Bambang.

COP30 merupakan pertemuan global paling krusial mengenai perubahan iklim. Indonesia menjadi salah satu negara yang berpartisipasi aktif dalam gelaran COP30 di Brazil, yang dihadiri oleh perwakilan berbagai negara dan diperkirakan diramaikan sekitar 50.000 pengunjung. Dalam forum bergengsi ini, Petrokimia Gresik hadir sebagai salah satu wakil industri pupuk dari Indonesia yang mampu menunjukkan implementasi nyata transisi hijau di Tanah Air.
