National K3 Month Enhancing Safety Culture, Petrokimia Gresik Engages Community & Families Again in Commemorating National K3 Month

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company holding member of the Pupuk Indonesia involves the community and families in commemorating the National K3 (Occupational Safety and Health) Month 2024. It aims to improve K3 culture in all elements of the company. This was conveyed by the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo after becoming the Superintendent of the National K3 Month Commemoration Ceremony, in Gresik, East Java, Friday (12/1/2024).

He said that, as a national vital object, Petrokimia Gresik must continue to maintain the sustainability of the company's operations by collaborating with the community and important elements of employees, namely family. Thus, Indonesia's food stability can continue to be maintained.

"In addition to the community, Petrokimia Gresik also involves families, namely the wives of employees who are members of the Petrokimia Gresik Employees' Wives Association (PIKA-PG) in National K3 Month activities. Hopefully, employees are accustomed to applying K3 principles since in their smallest environment, namely family," said Dwi Satriyo.

The commemoration of this year's Petrokimia Gresik National K3 Month is filled with various competitions, including Emergency Response Competition (ERC), K3 Quiz, Emergency Response Drill, and Safety Moment. In addition, Petrokimia Gresik held a S.A.F.E. MOMS competition for employees' wives and S.A.F.E. FAMILY which was attended by representatives of the community around the company.

According to him, the purpose of this K3 competition is not solely to seek victory and become a champion, but with this competition activity, at least residents can understand the importance of K3 activities. It is hoped that K3 actions can become a culture, and can take action if one day needed in an emergency.

"Through this competition, every citizen and employee's wife can change the culture and behavior that prioritizes safety aspects where growing K3 starts from oneself. So with the realization of K3 culture in all residents and families, it is hoped that it can prevent and reduce risks to themselves and the surrounding environment," he said.

Furthermore, Dwi Satriyo explained, that the competition was also attended by all employees, subsidiaries/foundations of Petrokimia Gresik, and contractors. This activity, he continued, became a step by Petrokimia Gresik management to see the readiness and skills of employees, subsidiaries, and contractors to face emergency conditions, to prevent losses to resources and property in Petrokimia Gresik.

"This skill is very important, considering that Petrokimia Gresik has 31 factories with a production capacity of millions of tons per year and occupies a land area of more than 550 hectares. Therefore, the K3 aspect is very important in running a business or industry with high complexity such as in Petrokimia Gresik," explained Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, in commemoration of this year's National K3 Month, Petrokimia Gresik carries the theme "Integrating Safety for A Safer Company". Through this theme, it is expected that all elements of the Company are integrated in implementing "safety value" at every step to stimulate improvement and encourage sustainable Company performance towards excellent business.

"To improve understanding and implementation of K3 in the corporate environment, collaboration must be carried out for sustainable safety. Because occupational safety and health is not the responsibility of one department, but the responsibility of all. Thus, the sustainability of Petrokimia Gresik is guaranteed," concluded Dwi Satriyo.
