Petrokimia Gresik Pupuk Indonesia Women's Volleyball Team Wins LIVOLI Main Division 2023 After 18 Years Of Waiting

Petrokimia Gresik Pupuk Indonesia women's volleyball team has emerged as the champion of the Livoli Main Division 2023. This achievement ends an 18-year wait. Adding to this championship title, Petrokimia Gresik Pupuk Indonesia's spokesperson, Putri Nur Hidayati Agustin, was honored as the Future Player of the Livoli Main Division 2023.

Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, on Monday (11/12), appreciated the achievement of Petrokimia Gresik Pupuk Indonesia team. He thanked them because this achievement has positively impacted the company, which is committed to advancing sports in Indonesia, including volleyball.

"We hope that Petrokimia Gresik's fostered athletes can continue to excel to the international level, thus bringing honor to Indonesia on the international stage," said Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, Digna Jatiningsih, Director of Operations and Production (DOP), added that since 2002, Petrokimia Gresik has been nurturing a volleyball team by providing complete training facilities and offering intensive coaching guidance. At the end of 2021, Petrokimia Gresik's fostered volleyball team changed its name to the "Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia Volleyball Team."

Pupuk Indonesia also played a significant role in the presence of this team as the main sponsor of the Petrokimia Gresik Pupuk Indonesia team, enabling them to excel in the Livoli Main Division event this year. This contribution, said Digna, is one of Petrokimia Gresik's and Pupuk Indonesia's efforts to support the young generation of the nation in achieving success through volleyball sports.

"We hope this victory motivates all players in the team to improve their performance in future championships," she emphasized.

Petrokimia Gresik's fostered volleyball team actively participates in various championships. In the Proliga, this year marks the 20th participation, after missing one year in 2020 and the cancellation of the event in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the past decade, Petrokimia Gresik's fostered volleyball team has achieved 3rd place in 2016 and 2nd place in Proliga in 2022.

Besides Proliga, Petrokimia Gresik's volleyball team previously also won 2nd place in the National Livoli Division 1 in 2019. This year, they secured the Livoli Main Division 2023 title after defeating the Indonesian Air Force team, marking Petrokimia Gresik's second victory since their first title in 2005, 18 years ago.

Pedro Lilipali, coach of Petrokimia Gresik Pupuk Indonesia, stated that this victory was achieved because his players were focused and used their previous defeats as motivation. He admitted to always motivating the players and providing guidance to improve their serve receive and block. With that, their morale improved, allowing them to play more freely.

"The key to the victory was the players' ability to play freely. We also learned from our two previous defeats against the Air Force PBV team by improving our receive, block, and cover," he briefly remarked.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PBV Petrokimia Gresik also appreciated the hard work of the athletes, enabling them to achieve their best performance in this year's championship. He hopes that this achievement can be further improved.

"The athletes have worked as hard as possible by training according to the coaches' evaluations. This achievement must be improved through even better training," Koko concluded.
