Petrokimia Gresik Receives Appreciation From Minister Of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, For The Implementation Of Environmental, Social, And Governance (ESG) Principles

Petrokimia Gresik, a leading Agroindustry Solutions company under the Pupuk Indonesia conglomerate, has been awarded the "Resilience and Sustainable Industry" as the First Best for the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) category for companies outside the industrial area by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). Symbolically, the award was presented directly by the Minister of Industry RI, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, to Petrokimia Gresik's President Director, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, in Jakarta, Monday (11/12).

Dwi Satriyo expressed that the implementation of ESG is an essential instrument for Petrokimia Gresik to ensure the smooth running of the company's business. Thus, Petrokimia Gresik can fulfill its mandate in maintaining national food security and contributing to Pupuk Indonesia's leadership in the global market.

"Petrokimia Gresik is currently the most comprehensive fertilizer and chemical company in Indonesia, being the largest NPK producer domestically, and a pioneer in several agricultural technologies in Indonesia. The company's innovative products also enhance agricultural productivity. Of course, these achievements are inseparable from the implementation of ESG in the company," emphasized Dwi Satriyo.

In the environmental field, he added, Petrokimia Gresik has several programs to realize green industries. These include energy efficiency through various innovations in factories and waste management in accordance with government regulations.

Furthermore, water consumption savings such as the utilization of Neutralized Water Effluent Treatment I for AlF3 Factory, Purified Gypsum I and II. These innovations can save water up to 1,897,500 cubic meters per year.

"To achieve green industry, Petrokimia Gresik also carries out decarbonization, such as the utilization of CO2 gas for several factories, planting 129,100 mangroves, using Solar Power Plants (PLTS), and others," explained Dwi Satriyo.

In the social field, Petrokimia Gresik has allocated funds of Rp11.98 billion in 2022, realized through several non-PUMK (Micro and Small Business Funding) programs for the communities around the company, such as Petro Scholarships (Bestro), Healthy Village, Young Farmer Scholarships, and other programs.

"The social programs we run aim to improve the social conditions of the community, especially those around the company, through empowerment of potentials and provision of social assistance," said Dwi Satriyo.

Lastly, in the corporate governance field, Petrokimia Gresik has implemented several integrated management systems. Starting from quality management, anti-corruption, safety, and others.
