Petrokimia Gresik Receives Six Awards at Eco Tech Pioneer and Sustainability Award 2023

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia group, has secured six awards at the Eco Tech Pioneer and Sustainability Award (EPSA) 2023. The awards, presented by the Department of Environmental Engineering, Diponegoro University (Undip), were received by Erinto, SVP Technology, representing the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, in Semarang recently.

Dwi Satriyo, in Gresik, East Java, on Wednesday (6/9), stated that Petrokimia Gresik is the most comprehensive producer of fertilizers and chemicals in Indonesia, as well as the largest producer of NPK fertilizers in the country. The company consistently adheres to the principles of environmental care in its business operations.

"These awards serve as proof that Petrokimia Gresik, in fulfilling its commitment to ensuring national food security and advancing Indonesian agriculture through innovative products, is dedicated to environmental management through various innovations," said Dwi Satriyo.

Among the six awards, two are Gold Winner awards, the highest recognition in this competition. Petrokimia Gresik received Gold Winner in the Eco-Cycle Innovation category for the innovation of utilizing Fly Ash Bottom Ash (FABA) as a substitute for clay filler in the NPK unit of Petrokimia Gresik. The second Gold Winner was awarded in the Ecosystem Protect category for the innovation of using bamboo-framed geobags to protect mangroves and shells from tidal waves in an environmentally friendly manner.

Additionally, Petrokimia Gresik secured three Silver Winner awards. In the Green Power Innovation category, the company was recognized for its energy efficiency program using purge gas as a fuel for boilers. This innovation also earned a Bronze Winner award in the Low Carbon Innovation category. The other two Silver Winner awards were in the Eco-Hazard Innovation category for Petrokimia Gresik's innovation in utilizing gypsum as a filler composition for NPK fertilizers and in the Hydro Smart Innovation category for the company's critical operation recovery using a water spraying system for the dismantling and reassembling of chlorine absorbers.

"Petrokimia Gresik has a high commitment to the environment because we recognize that environmental management is a crucial instrument for building a sustainable company," emphasized Dwi Satriyo.

In addition to these awards, Petrokimia Gresik's commitment to environmental management is evident from the achievement of the Gold Proper from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the Green Industry Level 5 from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) received earlier.
