Petrokimia Gresik Recognized as a Living Legend Company by Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla for Supporting Sustainable Food Security and Agriculture

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company the holding member of the Pupuk Indonesia for the first time was named as a Living Legend Company in Supporting Food and Agriculture Resilience Through Strategic Actions Implementation with the Gold Category. Witnessed by Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (2004-2009 &2014-2019) Jusuf Kalla, the award was symbolically received by Vice President of Corporate Communication, Petrokimia Gresik, Rama Yusron Harbiansyah representing the President Director, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo in Jakarta, some time ago.

Separately, Dwi Satriyo expressed his gratitude for the award given to Petrokimia Gresik. This award is the result of the company's commitment of more than half a century to maintaining national food security and its contribution to advancing agriculture in Indonesia. This sustainable superior performance cannot be separated from the company's success in utilizing existing potential through innovation, as well as support from stakeholders, especially the community around the company so that operations can run smoothly.

"This achievement is a joint achievement. Not only for Petrokimia Gresik but also for related stakeholders, ranging from the agricultural sector and the community around the company. We hope that this support can continue to be increased so that the company's contribution to advancing agriculture and maintaining national food security will be even better," said Dwi Satriyo.

He added, currently Petrokimia Gresik has 31 factories, is a company with the most complete variants of fertilizers and chemicals in Indonesia, and is the largest producer and mecca for NPK fertilizer in the country. Petrokimia Gresik is also a pioneer for several products and technologies in supporting the progress of agriculture and national industry in the country.

"Different eras, of course, have different challenges. Petrokimia Gresik must not be satisfied with the contribution that has been made. It must be able to turn every challenge into an opportunity for the future of Indonesian agriculture to advance," said Dwi Satriyo.

One of Petrokimia Gresik's contributions in advancing Indonesian agriculture and maintaining national food security is running the Makmur program which was initiated by the Ministry of SOEs of the Republic of Indonesia to increase agricultural productivity in Indonesia. Makmur itself is an agricultural ecosystem from upstream to downstream both on-farm and off-farm by involving various stakeholders, such as banking and insurance institutions, as well as off-takers.

Petrokimia Gresik itself in the Makmur Program serves as a provider of agro inputs, and cultivation assistance, including pesticide escort. As for 2024, the target of the Gresik Petrochemical Prosperous Program is increased to 132 thousand hectares (Ha) for land throughout Indonesia with various commodities.

This target is much larger than the initial target of the Makmur Program in 2023, amounting to 99,000 Ha. In addition, it also exceeds the realization or implementation in 2023, which is on an area of 130,497 Ha.

With the completion of the implementation in 2023, the total realization of the Makmur Petrokimia Gresik Program since its initiation in 2021 has reached 249,535 Ha. With details in 2021, it covers an area of 20,440 Ha. Furthermore, achievements in 2022 continue to increase, where Petrokimia Gresik has succeeded in running the Makmur program on an area of 98,598 hectares, and in 2023 more than 130 thousand hectares.

"Through this program, farmers can create independence so that they do not fully depend on fertilizer subsidies. The use of commercial fertilizers is proven to be able to increase the productivity of farmers as well as their income," concluded Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, this award was given at the Indonesia Living Legend Awards 2024 organized by Warta Ekonomi Group. The awards are designed to honor and celebrate the outstanding achievements of companies that are business-wise able to demonstrate good performance, good reputation, and innovative in becoming living legends of companies in Indonesia.
