The Coordinator of the National Disaster Task Force for State-Owned Enterprises in East Java, Petrokimia Gresik, and its subsidiaries, along with other members of the Task Force, have once again dispatched aid and volunteers to Bawean Island. The aid aims to assist in the recovery of the Bawean community following the earthquake disaster and was sent off in stages by Petrokimia Gresik's CEO, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo.
The aid, consisting of basic food supplies, was dispatched earlier on Monday (3/25/2024). Additionally, 13 volunteers were sent off on Thursday (3/28/2024) along with the food aid provided by the BUMN Task Force members. Meanwhile, support from volunteers of other BUMN Task Force members was also sent on Sunday (3/31/2024) and Tuesday (4/2/2024).
Dwi Satriyo expressed Petrokimia Gresik's commitment, as a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding company, and other Task Force members to continue providing assistance to the Bawean community, especially during the post-earthquake recovery period. Petrokimia Gresik continues to monitor their needs to ensure the smooth implementation of the government's post-disaster recovery program.
"Thousands of houses and public facilities on Bawean Island were damaged, with thousands of refugees still there. Based on our communication with the previous volunteer team and coordination with the East Java Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and Gresik District, much assistance, including volunteers, is still needed there," emphasized Dwi Satriyo.
The aid sent by Petrokimia Gresik and the Task Force this time is the second wave of assistance. It includes 800 kilograms of rice, 200 liters of cooking oil, 50 cartons of instant noodles, 25 cartons of cup noodles, 100 cans of sardines, 100 cans of corned beef, 20 cartons of UHT milk, and 50 cartons of bottled mineral water. In addition to food supplies, Petrokimia Gresik also sent 100 blankets and 500 diapers in this aid package.
"We are proud that in this second wave of aid, our subsidiaries within the Petrokimia Gresik Group also participated. This indicates that the spirit of benevolence fostered by Petrokimia Gresik also thrives within the subsidiaries," added Dwi Satriyo.
The Petrokimia Gresik Group subsidiaries involved in this aid effort include Petrosida Gresik, Petrokimia Kayaku, Petro Jordan Abadi, the Petrokimia Gresik Employees' Cooperative (K3PG), and the Petrokimia Gresik Group Foundation.
The aid was transported directly to Bawean by sea. For distribution on the ground, Petrokimia Gresik coordinates with relevant government stakeholders to ensure it reaches those in need.
"This aid is a quick response to the early stages of recovery, and we will continue to coordinate with the local BPBD to support the needs of the affected communities," concluded Dwi Satriyo.
Meanwhile, the volunteers sent in the second wave include three doctors, three nurses, and two pharmacists from the Petrokimia Gresik Hospital (RSPG) and Grha Husada Hospital. The next group of volunteers includes three members from the Petrokimia Gresik Employees' Union (SKPG) and one each from the CSR Department and the Corporate Communications Department.
"These volunteers will replace the duties of those who departed in the first wave. A total of ten volunteers were sent in the previous wave. So their tasks will alternate," explained Dwi Satriyo.
In addition to the Petrokimia Gresik Group, aid sent to Bawean Island also came from other Task Force members, including PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III), Perum Pegadaian, PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero), PT Telkom (Persero), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Branch Gresik, and PT WIKA (Persero). The aid provided includes food supplies, medications, mats, blankets, tarps, diapers, sanitary pads, and more.
Other BUMN Task Force members will also send ten volunteers each on Sunday and Tuesday next week. These volunteers come from PT Cipta Nirmala, PT Nusantara Medika Utama, PT Pelindo Husada Citra, and PT Nusantara Sebelas Medika.
The earthquake in the Java Sea caused significant damage in Bawean Island's two districts. According to data from the Gresik District BPBD, thousands of buildings were damaged. In Sangkapura District, 2,319 houses, 86 places of worship, 68 schools, 6 offices, one hospital, and eight Islamic boarding schools were damaged. In Tambak District, there were 2,828 damaged houses, along with 99 places of worship, 57 schools, 12 offices, and two markets. In addition to damaging buildings, the incident also displaced 15,357 people in Sangkapura District and 18,732 people in Tambak District.
"We hope our aid and volunteers can help alleviate the needs of the Bawean community. Insha Allah, we will continue to send aid in the next phase," concluded Dwi Satriyo.
