The National Disaster Task Force (Satgas Bencana Nasional) of BUMN (State-Owned Enterprises) East Java Region has once again deployed volunteers to assist in the recovery efforts for communities affected by the earthquake on Bawean Island. Ten volunteers were dispatched from Petrokimia Gresik in Gresik, which serves as the Coordinator for the BUMN National Disaster Task Force in East Java Region, on Tuesday (2/4/2024). Consequently, the total number of volunteers sent by the Task Force to Bawean, serving for 15 days, amounts to 41 individuals.

Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, CEO of Petrokimia Gresik and also the Chairman of the BUMN National Disaster Task Force in East Java Region, stated on Wednesday (3/4/2024) that Petrokimia Gresik, along with other Task Force members, continues to monitor the post-disaster developments in Bawean. "We will continue to contribute to supporting the Government to ensure a rapid and smooth recovery process," he added.

These volunteers represent Petrokimia Gresik's tangible contribution, along with other Task Force members, to complement the assistance previously sent to address the needs of the earthquake-affected communities in Bawean, which had experienced several seismic activities in the Java Sea near Bawean Island.

During the first wave of assistance on March 23, 2024, items such as instant noodles (50 boxes), sardines (250 cans), blankets (100 pieces), bottled water (50 boxes of 600ml), diapers (300 pieces of various sizes for babies and toddlers), and medicines were dispatched. Additionally, 30 tarps were sent for the needs of evacuees.

On the second wave on March 28, 2024, Petrokimia Gresik and its subsidiaries, along with other Task Force members, sent 800 kilograms of rice, 200 liters of cooking oil, 50 cartons of instant noodles, 25 cartons of cup noodles, 100 cans of corned beef, 100 cans of canned meat, 20 cartons of UHT milk, and 50 cartons of bottled water. Besides food items, Petrokimia Gresik also sent 100 blankets and 500 diapers in this assistance package.

Other Task Force members who sent assistance to Bawean include PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III), Perum Pegadaian, PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero), PT Telkom (Persero), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Branch Gresik, and PT WIKA (Persero). The aid provided includes food supplies, medications, mats, blankets, tarps, diapers, sanitary pads, and other items.

"In addition to aid, Petrokimia Gresik, along with our colleagues in the East Java Task Force, also sent volunteers. These range from operational support staff to medical teams and psychologists. We tailored this to the needs in Bawean following coordination with the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and Gresik District," said Dwi Satriyo.

The ten volunteers dispatched in the fourth wave come from PT Pelindo Husada Citra and PT Nusantara Sebelas Medika, each sending five volunteers. Among these volunteers are four doctors, two nurses, two pharmacists, and two psychologists. They will be stationed in Bawean until April 6, 2024.

"The volunteers departing today will replace the duties of the volunteers previously dispatched on March 31, which was the third wave. Eight returning volunteers are from PT Cipta Nirmala and PT Nusantara Medika Utama," said Dwi Satriyo.

Thus, there are now a total of 41 volunteers from the BUMN National Disaster Task Force in East Java Region who have been on duty since the day after the disaster occurred. In the first and second waves, a total of 23 volunteers from PT Petro Graha Medika formed the initial response team present at the disaster site.

"These volunteers are fulfilling their duties to contribute and benefit the community. We hope they can help meet the healthcare needs of the people of Bawean, especially in the post-disaster period," concluded Dwi Satriyo.
