Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solution company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding, held a wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performance at GOR Tri Dharma, Gresik, East Java, on Friday (9/29) to commemorate its 51st anniversary. The play, titled "Amarta Binangun," was performed by Ki Cahyo Kuntadi, a master puppeteer and lecturer at the Institute of Indonesian Arts (ISI) Surakarta. The event also featured guest comedian Gareng Semarang and vocalist Elisha Orcarus.
Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, CEO of Petrokimia Gresik, expressed that as a part of a state-owned enterprise (BUMN), Petrokimia Gresik must actively contribute to preserving arts and culture, particularly through wayang kulit performances, to ensure their sustainability.
"The wayang kulit performance is a regular event organized by Petrokimia Gresik every year, especially on the company's anniversary, such as this 51st year. Petrokimia Gresik's anniversary should be a moment for us to preserve our cultural heritage," he emphasized.
Dwi Satriyo added that the show is also a commitment by Petrokimia Gresik to uphold the integrity and diversity of Indonesia through its cultural initiatives. Cultural values have the power to unite the spirit of unity, build and maintain national harmony.
"History records the unity of this nation through culture. We must not allow the disintegration of our nation because we neglect our artistic culture. History has proven that artistic culture can unite the spirit of unity, thus maintaining harmony," he stated.
Meanwhile, the play "Amarta Binangun" tells the story of the Pandavas' struggle to build the Kingdom of Amarta. Their journey is fraught with challenges.
This narrative aligns with the efforts of the Insan Petrokimia Gresik in supporting Pupuk Indonesia in creating a new future as an environmentally conscious global company by implementing Green Industry practices. Facing challenges and competition requires innovation.
From the story of Amarta Binangun, the audience can draw inspiration about perseverance, leadership, and the struggle for self-improvement. The importance of teamwork is also a valuable lesson from this story, as Amarta Binangun requires assistance from various characters.
In conclusion, the story imparts lessons about preserving values and ethics. Integrity serves as the foundation for every sustainable company.
"Organizing this wayang kulit performance contributes not only to our national culture but also motivates the spirit of contribution from the Insan Petrokimia Gresik in advancing the company and Indonesian agriculture," he concluded.
