Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia group, has been honored with the Green Port Award System (GPAS) 2023 from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Port Service Network (APSN) for its Terminal for Own Use (TUKS). The award was received by Robby Setiabudi Madjid, Finance and General Director of Petrokimia Gresik, representing Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, in Bangkok, Thailand, on Tuesday (24/10).

APSN is an international organization under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). APSN currently has 18 APEC member countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, and Indonesia. APSN's mandate is to promote economically and environmentally sustainable ports to achieve the common welfare of APEC members.

Robby Setiabudi Madjid, shortly after receiving the award, stated that Petrokimia Gresik's TUKS became the first and only bulk port in Indonesia to receive the GPAS Award. This recognition strengthens previous achievements, where the Petrokimia Gresik port was named the best port in the Green Port Award 2022 organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The Petrokimia Gresik port is of international standard. Port activities at Petrokimia Gresik are not only inter-island but also international. The implementation of Green Port has become a necessity for Petrokimia Gresik as one of the instruments to enhance business competitiveness, especially in supporting Pupuk Indonesia's global reach," emphasized Robby.

The Green Port concept makes the port processes at Petrokimia Gresik more effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly. This further optimizes the Cost Reduction Program implemented by the company.

The Green Port concept includes efforts to improve energy management efficiently at the port. Some implemented initiatives include the use of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) for buildings and offices, the use of electric motorcycles, replacing conventional lighting with LED lights, implementing green building practices, providing shore connections for ship energy supply, and digitization.

"Cost savings in operations will ultimately affect product prices, so this step is also Petrokimia Gresik's effort to provide protection for consumers through quality products at more competitive prices," said Robby.

In addition to energy efficiency, the Green Port concept is also implemented through improving the quality of cleanliness of land and sea areas within the Petrokimia Gresik working environment by reducing waste pollution and domestic waste. Meanwhile, air quality is maintained by reducing noise, carbon gas emissions, and greenhouse gas emissions.

"Thus, the implementation of Green Port also helps protect the environment around the company from pollution caused by port processes, thereby enhancing the empowerment of communities around the company through the utilization of natural resources," added Robby.

Finally, he added that the optimal implementation of Green Port will have an impact on the smooth distribution of subsidized fertilizers, considering Petrokimia Gresik's responsibility for distributing subsidized fertilizers is not only on Java Island, accessible by land routes, but also inter-island, requiring sea transportation.

"We accelerate the implementation of Green Port at the Petrokimia Gresik port also to facilitate the smooth operational business until the fulfillment of national fertilizer needs, including the distribution of subsidized fertilizers to various regions in Indonesia. The various achievements obtained from the implementation of Green Port are our encouragement to continue optimizing port operations in providing the best agroindustry solutions for Indonesia," concluded Robby.
