PG ENGAGES THE COMMUNITIES IN SHE COMPETITION

In celebrating the National SHE Month, PT Petrokimia Gresik (PG), a subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), held a series of SHE competitions by involving subsidiaries, contractors, companies under Petrokimia Gresik Foundation (YPG), surrounding companies, and for the first time, involving the communities circa the company from 8 villages.

The PG President Director, Rahmad Pribadi, stated that the SHE competition was a form of the company's active participation in implementing the national SHE vision, that is "SHE Cultured Indonesia Community Independence in 2020" while strengthening the company's SHE motto, which is "Safety Starts With Me", in order to reach "Zero Accident" that the company always achieved.

"We want the SHE aspect to always be maintained and increasingly being a culture. Not only for employees and partners, but also involves the communities around the company", Rahmad said.

The competitions available for the contestants were the Emergency Response Competition, which includes Fire Fighting (PMK), Breathing Apparatus (BA), and First Aid for Accident (P3K). In addition, to the employees, PG still has several other competitions, such as digital poster design, photography, and SHE ideas (Safety Idea Competition).

Rahmad emphasizes that the purpose of this competition was to find out how advance the knowledge, readiness, and skills of employees and related parties are, regarding with SHE aspects in working environment while testing the response to factory emergency conditions.

The SHE aspects, Rahmad continued, became very relevant in the midst of business transformation program currently promoted by the company. SHE aspects must be able to play its important role in supporting the achievement of this company's business transformation targets.

"For example, recently Petrokimia Gresik has run the eposh.id portal or Occupational Safety and Health e-Portal, through this portal, the SHE services required by employees and partner companies/co-op partners can be fastly accommodated", Rahmad said.

Furthermore, Rahmad stated that the implementation of SHE culture involving related parties and the surrounding communities is very important considering PG has a quite high complexity of production facilities. Currently, PG has 31 fertilizer and chemical plants with the total capacity reaches 8.9 million tons per year.

This capacity is still very possible to increase. Considering that the company possesses the research and innovation program to become a dominant player and market leader in order to strengthen its position as a producer of fertilizers and chemicals for agroindustry solutions.

"It is hoped that SHE culture can play its strategic role in supporting the company efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency and national economic growth programs", Rahmad concluded.
