Petrokimia Gresik Successfully Drives the Transformation of the 'LITERASI' Program into a Certified Self-Reliant Rural Farming Training Center

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solution company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia Holding, has successfully transformed the Community Development (Comdev) Integrated Cattle Farming Literacy (Literasi) program into a Self-Reliant Rural Farming Training Center (P4S). With this transformation, the role of Literasi becomes even more optimal as an educational platform for agriculture and livestock in the country.

Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, CEO of Petrokimia Gresik, announced this transformation in Gresik, East Java, on Friday (9/22). He stated that with this transformation, the Literasi program, which has received numerous awards, not only brings prosperity to its members and positively impacts environmental preservation but also provides benefits and inspires stakeholders in agriculture and animal husbandry.

"If previously the Literasi program was only a solution to the problem of livestock and agricultural waste in Sumbersari Village, Sambeng District, Lamongan Regency, now its positive impact is even more extensive, serving as an educational platform for livestock and agricultural solutions in Indonesia," said Dwi Satriyo.

The certification of P4S from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia makes Literasi a center for livestock training and an edu-farm destination for schools and the general public. Several universities have also visited and conducted research at Edufarm Literasi.

"Literasi is now the first certified P4S learning center in Lamongan. This also affirms Petrokimia Gresik as the only fertilizer company implementing a community development program to achieve P4S certification," explained Dwi Satriyo.

To optimize its training program, Literasi is now equipped with e-learning modules for livestock and virtual tours for observing livestock. This feature is accessible online through the website www.edufarmliterasi.com. Literasi also provides bilingual guides for English-speaking visitors.

In addition to training benefits, participants in Literasi can join the Literasi Young Livestock Farmers community, a platform for sharing knowledge and discussions about livestock farming and waste processing. This platform also aims to build a network among livestock enthusiasts nationwide.

Meanwhile, Petrokimia Gresik has been supporting cattle farmers in Sumbersari since 2018. The program initially focused on enhancing livestock management capacity, creating processed products from livestock waste, developing group businesses, and strengthening group management. The program has evolved to include training in safety brief creation for edu-farm visitors, e-learning website management, social media management, and assistance in obtaining trademarks and other permits.

Finally, Dwi Satriyo added that as part of a state-owned enterprise with a developmental role, Petrokimia Gresik will continue to increase its commitment to promote the welfare of the community.
