In celebrating National Eyes Health Day, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Petrokimia Gresik held “10 Mata Ceria “program that is an event to check eyes and give free eye glasses.
This event which was held by Grha Husada Hospital Gresik was attended by 100 elementary school students around Petrokimia Gresik. There are four elementary schools that is registered in this event, namely; UPT SDN 15 Gresik Tlogopjok village, UPT SDN 3 Gresik Lumpur village, UPT SDN 2 Gresik Karangturi village, and UPT SDN 4 Gresik (SD Petrokimia Gresik). In addition to getting an examination, students also get glasses and medicine according to medical indications.
One of the students from UPT SDN 15 Gresik, Zein Waladi, was happy to have the opportunity to have an eye examination and be given free glasses. Moreover, this student who is still in grade 5 often finds it difficult to see the writing on the lesson material.
While, Sugeng, the student companion from UPT SDN 15 Gresik gave his appreciation to Petrokimia Gresik’s care about student eyes health. For him, vision is vital for students.
The survey result from Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) at early 2021 by Indonesian Ophthalmologist Association shows that in Indonesia, there are 8 million people have visual impairment with details 1.6 million suffer from blindness while 6.4 million suffer from moderate and severe visual impairment.
Through the “100 Mata Ceria” Program, Petrokimia Gresik seeks to realize the company's concern for visual impairments that arise as a result of the online learning process undertaken by students. It is hoped that through this program, Petrokimia Gresik can encourage students to study harder and be able to become the next generation of outstanding achievements. (*/Wildan)
