Through demonstration plots, Petrokimia Gresik educates farmers to be able to implement good and optimal farming methods to increase productivity. This is proven by the yield of the watermelon demonstration plot held by Petrokimia Gresik along with fertilizer distributor PT Rahmat Jaya Raya and the farmer group. The demonstration plot was held in Tanjung Baru Village, Tanjung Lubuk Sub-district, Ogan Komering Ilir District, South Sumatra Province.
Watermelon varieties of Baginda which was planted on March 19, 2020, in an area of 0.2 hectares, can produce 5.2 tons per 0.2 hectares at the time of harvest on May 18, 2020. This demonstration plot uses NPK Phonska Plus 150 kg per 0.2 Ha, ZA 100 kg per 0.2 Ha, and Petroganik 120 per 0.2 Ha. While the pest control escort from PT Petrosida Gresik, namely Emazo 150 ml per 0.2 Ha, Topsida 300 ml per 0.2 Ha, Topsin 300 ml per 0.2 Ha.
According to farmers, with fertilization recommendations from Petrokimia Gresik, the plants grew faster, around the age of 20 days after planting has begun to flower, plants become healthier, more resistant to pests and diseases, and watermelon becomes heavier, and the color is brighter.
