Gresik, East Java - Petrokimia Gresik, a key player in the agro-industrial solutions sector and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding, reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the well-being of the communities surrounding its operations through a range of flagship health programs. This was conveyed by Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, CEO of Petrokimia Gresik, on Tuesday (14/11) in commemoration of National Health Day 2023.
Dwi Satriyo emphasized that health is a fundamental need for every individual. Petrokimia Gresik's concern for health serves as a collective effort to enhance the productivity of the communities surrounding the company, thus promoting family well-being and regional economies.
"Without good health, we would all struggle to carry out activities, let alone think creatively and innovatively. Therefore, community health, aimed at enhancing productivity, is a shared responsibility. Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), Petrokimia Gresik can contribute to this," stated Dwi Satriyo in Gresik, East Java.
Petrokimia Gresik's health care program in 2023 is packaged into several activities. Firstly, there is the "Healthy Friday with Quranic Teachers (Jemari)" program. A total of 221 Quranic teachers from the surrounding areas participated in this program, undergoing free health check-ups and receiving education on Clean and Healthy Living Patterns (CHLP).
The services provided at Jemari included general physical examinations, blood pressure measurements, weight measurements, mini medical check-ups, and health consultations. Additionally, this program offered educational sessions on various health topics, such as healthy eating habits, good exercise practices, stress management, disease prevention, and maintaining overall health.
"Quranic teachers' health needs attention so they can fulfill their duties in building the spiritual intelligence of their students optimally," remarked Dwi Satriyo.
Secondly, Petrokimia Gresik's health care outreach extends beyond Gresik to communities surrounding the Gunungsari Water Treatment Plant (Surabaya) and the Babat Water Treatment Plant (Lamongan), as well as the Pati and Tegal districts in Central Java. Health check-ups were provided alongside community health walks.
Jemari and health check-ups during these walks are part of Petrokimia Gresik's "Healthy Friday for All (Jus Sehat)" program, representing the third realization of Petrokimia Gresik's commitment to community health. This year, there were 13 Jus Sehat points in Gresik and beyond, with a total of 1,578 participants.
Fourthly, Petrokimia Gresik also donated a mortuary vehicle to the Gresik community through the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Gresik District to complement the facilities at the "24-Hour Post" in collaboration with the Gresik District Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and local Health Office.
Fifthly, on the occasion of Petrokimia Gresik's 51st anniversary, the company organized free circumcision for 100 children in the vicinity. In addition to the circumcision procedure, the children received medication, post-circumcision check-ups, and souvenirs (Islamic robes and trousers). Participants also received transportation allowances.
Furthermore, Petrokimia Gresik has various other community health care programs, including fitness exercise competitions for the communities surrounding the company, the "Embrace the Soul" program, monitoring for stunting-free children, milk assistance, and many more.
In recognition of its commitment to community health, Petrokimia Gresik has received several awards from stakeholders. Notably, Petrokimia Gresik received the "Jatim Bangkit Award 2023" in the category of "Companies Supporting the Best Recovery from Pandemic Impacts (State-Owned Enterprises/Regional-Owned Enterprises in East Java)." Additionally, Petrokimia Gresik won six awards in the "4 Stars" category at the Indonesian Conference & Competition Occupational Safety and Health (ICC-OSH) 2023.
"Petrokimia Gresik consistently plays an active role in encouraging the surrounding community to adopt healthy and active lifestyles. We believe that health and fitness are investments in a better future, both for individuals and the community as a whole," concluded Dwi Satriyo.
