PETROKIMIA GRESIK CONCERNS COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE SEMERU ERUPTION, AGAIN SENDS AID TO LUMAJANG

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding company, has again sent aid in the form of daily necessities to communities affected by the Mount Semeru eruption in Lumajang, East Java. The aid was sent directly from Gresik to Lumajang on Wednesday (November 26, 2025).

Separately, Petrokimia Gresik's President Director, Daconi Khotob, stated that Petrokimia Gresik's presence among the Lumajang community during the Mount Semeru eruption was part of its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.

"The eruption certainly impacted the communities surrounding Mount Semeru. Petrokimia Gresik's presence among the Lumajang community during the Mount Semeru eruptions, from 2021, 2022, and now, demonstrates Petrokimia Gresik's commitment to our brothers and sisters in Lumajang," said Daconi.

The aid distributed this time includes 20 boxes of UHT milk, 5 boxes of soap, 20 dozen toothbrushes and toothpaste each, 5 boxes of shampoo, 60 boxes of baby diapers, 150 sarongs, 150 towels, 150 foam mattresses, and 150 blankets.

Daconi explained that this aid was the result of coordination between Petrokimia Gresik and the Lumajang Regency Government, specifically the Lumajang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). The aid will be distributed to affected communities through the Lumajang Regency Government, ensuring it reaches its intended target.

"The eruption occurred on November 19, but community activities have not yet fully recovered; some are still living in evacuation centers. Mount Semeru's alert status yesterday (November 24, 2025) was also still at the Alert level. Hopefully, this aid can help ease the burden on affected residents," he said.

Finally, Daconi expressed his hope that the affected communities would remain resilient in the face of the Mount Semeru eruption. Despite the damage to many homes, particularly residential areas in Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District, Daconi expressed his hope.

"We hope the victims remain enthusiastic in carrying out their daily lives. This assistance is a tangible manifestation of Petrokimia Gresik's concern and presence for the Lumajang community in the face of the Mount Semeru eruption," Daconi concluded.
