PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, has prepared a stock of 443,436 tons of company-produced subsidized fertilizer to support national fertilizer needs ahead of the October–March planting season. This stock level exceeds the safety stock requirements set by the Government as part of the company's efforts to ensure supply readiness to support agricultural productivity and national food security.
The stock consists of 95,645 tons of Urea fertilizer, 261,858 tons of NPK Phonska, 70,054 tons of Petroganik organic fertilizer, 4,116 tons of ZA, and 11,763 tons of SP-36. This readiness represents part of Petrokimia Gresik's contribution as a fertilizer producer within the Pupuk Indonesia group to support farmers' needs.
President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, in Gresik, Monday (12/10/2026), stated that fertilizer availability is an essential factor in ensuring a smooth planting season. Therefore, the company continuously strives to maintain production readiness and stock availability through operational optimization and coordination with various stakeholders to support national fertilizer demands.
“The utmost priority is that farmers' needs are met without constraints, especially during the planting season. Farmers can optimize this subsidized fertilizer stock as effectively as possible. This is Petrokimia Gresik's way of supporting agricultural productivity while realizing national food security,” said Daconi.
In addition to ensuring supply readiness, Petrokimia Gresik also encourages the implementation of balanced fertilization to maintain long-term agricultural productivity. This measure is crucial considering that Petrokimia Gresik's testing of 40,282 soil samples across 27 provinces since 2016 revealed that 91.9 percent of the samples contained low organic carbon levels.
The low organic carbon content is a concern because organic matter plays a vital role in maintaining soil structure, supporting microorganism activity, and facilitating nutrient availability for crops. These conditions highlight the necessity of maintaining soil health so that fertilizer application yields optimal benefits.
“Available fertilizer must be utilized precisely. Besides meeting plant nutrient requirements, we must also preserve soil health to keep it productive. Therefore, the balanced use of organic and inorganic fertilizers is vital, not only for current harvest yields, but also for future agricultural sustainability,” Daconi explained.
He added that organic fertilizers such as Petroganik play a role in improving the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil, while inorganic fertilizers help meet crop nutrient requirements. Proper application of both can enhance fertilization efficiency while helping to maintain long-term land fertility.
As an example of balanced fertilization application for paddy crops, Petrokimia Gresik introduces the 5:3:2 formula, which involves using 500 kg of organic fertilizer, 300 kg of NPK fertilizer, and 200 kg of Urea fertilizer per hectare of land. Its application should still be adjusted according to crop needs, soil conditions, and local agricultural technical recommendations.
Meanwhile, to maintain continuous fertilizer supply, Petrokimia Gresik optimizes digital technology through the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Online Truck Scheduling System (SISTRO), and Petrokimia Gresik Port Information System (Petroport). The utilization of these systems supports the smooth supply of raw materials, continuity of production processes, and effective warehouse management through strengthened coordination of company transportation and port activities.
Daconi added that smooth raw material supply, production process optimization, and warehouse management remain key corporate priorities to ensure continuous fertilizer availability, particularly in meeting increased demand during the planting season.
“As a fertilizer producer, our responsibility is to ensure production readiness and supply availability so that farmers' needs continue to be met. We want Petrokimia Gresik's contribution not only to help facilitate a smooth planting season, but also to deliver tangible benefits for boosting agricultural productivity and national food security,” Daconi concluded.
