For 15 days of dedicated service, the medical team and volunteers dispatched by Petrokimia Gresik alongside the National Disaster Response Task Force from State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in East Java, along with other Task Force members, have assisted in the recovery of 2,126 residents affected by the earthquake in Bawean. This was announced by the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, who also serves as the Chairman of the National Disaster Response Task Force for BUMN in East Java, on Monday (4/8/2024).

"The recovery period also becomes a challenging time for the people of Bawean following the earthquake disaster. Especially for those in evacuation, they certainly require extra medical and psychological supervision or attention," said Dwi Satriyo.

He added that, according to reports from the medical team on duty in Bawean, the patients varied in age, ranging from toddlers to the elderly. On average, the post-disaster Bawean community experienced myalgia or muscle pain, hypertension, vertigo, Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), common headaches, and other illnesses.

"In addition to providing free medical treatment, our volunteer team also conducted trauma healing programs for the people of Bawean. Especially for toddlers and children, so that they can remain happy despite being in the midst of post-disaster constraints," emphasized Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, the volunteer team from Petrokimia Gresik, along with other Task Force members, immediately departed one day after the earthquake in Bawean. In total, there were 41 volunteers on duty on a rotating basis from March 23 to April 6, 2024, or for 15 days.

They comprised doctors, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, and other volunteer teams. Some healthcare workers came from the IHC Group Hospital under PT Petro Graha Medika, PT Cipta Nirmala, PT Nusantara Medika Utama, PT Pelindo Husada Cita, and PT Nusantara Sebelas Medika. Additionally, there was a team from the dr. Soediono Madiun Regional Hospital under PT Wijaya Karya (Persero).

"Alhamdulillah, our volunteer team was able to contribute to accelerating the recovery of the post-disaster Bawean community. We will continue to coordinate with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Java Province and Gresik District to support the needs of the post-disaster Bawean community," said Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, in addition to sending volunteer teams, Petrokimia Gresik, along with other Task Force members, also sent relief supplies to Bawean, ranging from groceries and other food items, medicines, diapers, tarpaulins, blankets, and more. This assistance was an active contribution from PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III), Perum Pegadaian, PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero), PT Telkom (Persero), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Gresik Branch, PT Wijaya Karya (Persero).

"We will continue to pay attention to the people of Bawean so that the post-disaster recovery process carried out by the Government can be faster and smoother," concluded Dwi Satriyo.
