The Petrokimia Media Award (PMA) program organized by PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, received a Category Program Appreciation Certificate from the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Gresik Regency at the 2026 Giri Pancasuar Award event. The award was presented for PMA's contribution in supporting the enhancement of journalists' competency and was handed over during the 2026 Giri Pancasuar Award night in Gresik, Wednesday (5/8/2026).
The Chairman of PWI Gresik Regency, Deni Ali Setiono, stated that PMA not only provides appreciation for journalistic works, but also opens up space for journalists to broaden their insights regarding the fertilizer industry. PWI Gresik hopes that the program will continue and serve as an inspiration for other companies in building constructive relations with the media.
“The presence of PMA has become one of the programs that deliver a positive impact for press personnel in Gresik Regency. This program motivates journalists to continuously improve competency, maintain professional ethics, and present balanced, fact-based reporting,” said Deni after the presentation of the appreciation certificate.
Separately, the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, expressed gratitude for the appreciation given by PWI Gresik Regency to the company through PMA. According to him, this appreciation serves as an encouragement for Petrokimia Gresik to continue building open, professional, and mutually value-adding relations with media personnel.
Daconi emphasized that the media is a strategic partner for the company in conveying various information to the public. Therefore, Petrokimia Gresik continuously provides space for dialogue so that journalists have a more complete understanding of various strategic issues, particularly in the fertilizer and agroindustrial sectors.
He explained that PMA was developed not only as an appreciation event for journalistic works, but also as an educational and collaborative forum organized routinely every four months (caturwulan). Through this program, journalists gain the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the company's business processes, subsidized fertilizer policies, occupational health and safety (K3), environment, sustainability, and food security.
Various PMA activities are also packaged interactively through sharing sessions, thematic discussions, educational quizzes, light fire extinguisher (APAR) practical use, fire handling simulations, as well as first aid training and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This approach forms part of Petrokimia Gresik's media relations strategy that prioritizes engagement, education, and direct experience for media personnel.
PMA presents appreciation for the best journalistic works from online media, print media, and television. The various categories presented also encourage journalists to dig deeper into information regarding company innovation, Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs, sustainability, and Petrokimia Gresik's contribution to the community.
Throughout the implementation of PMA in 2025, the program was joined by 78 journalists, with the participants' level of satisfaction as well as understanding of the program reaching 88.76 percent. These results demonstrate that PMA not only strengthens the company's relations with the media, but also effectively improves journalists' understanding of the fertilizer industry and various other strategic issues.
“This appreciation serves as a motivation for us to continuously improve the quality of communication and collaboration with media personnel. Going forward, Petrokimia Gresik will continue to expand space for dialogue and support the media in delivering accurate, balanced information that can provide a better understanding to the public regarding the fertilizer sector, food security, and the company's contribution,” Daconi concluded.
