The Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program of PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, once again received appreciation at the national level for the implementation of TJSL programs that create an impact on the community and the environment. This time, Petrokimia Gresik achieved the Gold predicate in the Environmental Pillar under the SOE Subsidiary Category at the 6th TJSL & CSR Award 2026 organized by BUMN Track together with BTA Academy in Jakarta recently.

The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, in Gresik, East Java, expressed appreciation for the award. According to him, this achievement serves as proof that Petrokimia Gresik's TJSL program is capable of delivering innovation, providing a sustainable impact on the community and environment, as well as being integrated with the company's business strategy.

"The success of TJSL today is no longer measured by the size of the budget spent, but by the magnitude of the change created. Companies capable of providing benefits to the community and environment will gain greater trust from the public. That is why ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles are no longer an option, but a strategic necessity for the company's future," said Daconi.

The Gold predicate was achieved through the implementation of the Waste Management-Conscious Community (Masyarakat Sadar Pengelolaan Sampah - Masdarsa) program, a community empowerment program run by Petrokimia Gresik since 2022 in Tlogopojok Village, Gresik Regency. The program focuses on strengthening community-based waste management to reduce waste generation while driving the creation of a circular economy.

Along with its implementation, Masdarsa has continued to grow and currently has 20 waste banks, including one school waste bank at UPT SD Negeri 15 Gresik. The program has also been expanded through various productive activities, such as hydroponic cultivation, fish farming in buckets (budikdamber), eco-enzyme production, to the provision of refill station services (Refilin) to reduce packaging waste.

Through Masdarsa, Petrokimia Gresik not only encourages behavioral changes in the community regarding sorting and managing waste, but also increases the economic value of the waste generated. The program also strengthens community group institutions through mentoring, knowledge transfer, and the utilization of used fertilizer sacks as waste collection media—thus providing benefits to the community while supporting the implementation of the company's circular economy.

The implementation of Masdarsa has also delivered a real impact on the environment and the community. As of May 2026, the program has successfully managed more than 194 tons of inorganic waste, improved community skills in waste sorting, contributed to supporting food security through hydroponic development and fish farming in buckets (budikdamber), as well as created additional income opportunities for the community from waste bank proceeds.

Daconi added that the implementation of Petrokimia Gresik's TJSL continues to be directed toward supporting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and Creating Shared Value (CSV), so that the benefits generated are not only felt by the community, but also strengthen the company's business sustainability.

"This award serves as a motivation for Petrokimia Gresik to continue strengthening the implementation of TJSL programs that provide real benefits to the community while supporting the company's business sustainability. Moving forward, we will continue to deliver programs that are innovative, adaptive to community needs, and aligned with ESG principles so as to be capable of creating shared value for the company, community, and environment," Daconi concluded.

The 6th TJSL & CSR Award 2026 event is an appreciation event for companies assessed to have successfully integrated TJSL programs into their business strategies, thereby creating sustainable social, environmental, and economic impacts. This year, the event was participated in by 68 SOE companies, SOE subsidiaries, and public companies (Tbk), with an evaluation process involving academics, ESG experts, CSR practitioners, and national figures.
