Petrokimia Gresik Receives Appreciation from BAPETEN for Outstanding Commitment to Nuclear Safety

Petrokimia Gresik, a leading Agroindustry Solution company and a member of Pupuk Indonesia Holding, has been honored with the "BAPETEN Award 2023" by the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN). The recognition acknowledges the company's dedication to maintaining safety and security in the utilization of nuclear energy for Gauging, a measurement tool used in the field of Measurement.

The award was received by Iwan Febrianto, Senior Vice President of Planning and Maintenance Control, representing Petrokimia Gresik's President Director, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, in a ceremony held recently in Yogyakarta.

Dwi Satriyo, speaking on Thursday (24/8), highlighted that Petrokimia Gresik holds a license for the utilization of nuclear energy for gauging purposes in the operational and production processes of fertilizers within the company. Gauging, a measurement technique utilizing nuclear applications, is employed for measuring thickness, height, density, and as a quality control tool in product processes. Petrokimia Gresik has been leveraging nuclear energy for controlling the production process of urea fertilizers and measuring the final tonnage of urea fertilizer products.

"This recognition is evidence of Petrokimia Gresik's commitment to ensuring safety and security in the utilization of nuclear energy, earning us a 'Very Good' performance assessment," he stated.

Before presenting this award, BAPETEN conducted several stages at Petrokimia Gresik, including direct facility inspections, analyzing safety verification reports, monitoring worker dose evaluations, overseeing licensing processes, and handling emergency incidents.

"The use of nuclear technology is prevalent in various fields, with medical X-rays being a common example. Similarly, Petrokimia Gresik utilizes such technology as a support mechanism for industrial activities," he added.

Furthermore, Dwi Satriyo revealed that the award also signifies Petrokimia Gresik's consistency in implementing risk management. "Effective risk management governance provides information and indications of potential risks to the company, enabling preventive measures and early evaluations. Risks should not be avoided; instead, they should be confronted appropriately with accurate mitigation strategies," he explained.

Moving forward, Petrokimia Gresik remains committed to enhancing the quality of risk management implementation and consistently mitigating potential risks. This commitment aligns with the demand for companies to improve competitiveness in the global market.
