Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding company, collaborated with the Gresik Regency Government to distribute hundreds of free basic food packages to pedicab drivers in Gresik Regency. The assistance was handed over directly by Petrokimia Gresik's Director of Risk Management, Johanes Barus, during the recent handover of an electric pedicab to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
Johanes explained that through the basic food assistance, Petrokimia Gresik wants to share happiness with the hundreds of pedicab drivers who regularly operate in the Gresik area. This is especially true now that we are welcoming the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H, when the needs of every family increase to celebrate the festive season.
"Through the synergy between Petrokimia Gresik and the Gresik Regency Government in the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, this activity demonstrates collaboration to support community mobility, the local economy, and environmentally friendly transportation. Through this assistance, we hope to strengthen good relationships with pedicab drivers and the surrounding community, while also providing motivation to keep them motivated and supporting the people's economy in Gresik," said Johanes.
More than 200 packages of basic food supplies were distributed, each containing 3 kilograms (kg) of rice, 1 kg of sugar, cooking oil, and instant noodles. This assistance also demonstrates synergy with the Gresik Regency Government.
Johanes acknowledges that this assistance cannot meet all the needs of the pedicab drivers. Nevertheless, he hopes this activity will be beneficial and utilized wisely.
"As the breadwinners of their families, these men must work hard pulling pedicabs to support their families. We are proud to share our enthusiasm and motivation with the pedicab drivers, who are heroes to their families," Johanes concluded.
Finally, he expressed his gratitude for the community's support for the company's smooth operations. This allows the company to assist the government in achieving national food self-sufficiency.
"The company's smooth implementation of its mandate to distribute subsidized fertilizer throughout Indonesia is inseparable from the prayers and support of pedicab drivers. This is also a token of our gratitude," he concluded.
