Petrokimia Gresik Showcases "Smart Precision Farming" at the National Farmers and Fishermen Week XVI

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solution company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia conglomerate, actively participates in the National Farmers and Fishermen Week XVI exhibition and technology fair inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, in Padang on Saturday, June 10. The exhibited material revolves around the "Smart Precision Farming" program for the future of Indonesian agriculture.

In the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, conveyed that Smart Precision Farming is Petrokimia Gresik's commitment to supporting the government's food resilience program through the utilization of modern technology and the Internet of Things (IoT). This approach aims to achieve effective, efficient, and precise fertilization in cultivation.

"With this program, we can drive the improvement of agricultural productivity, ultimately having a positive impact on the welfare of farmers and national food security," explained Dwi Satriyo.

In the Smart Precision Farming initiative, Petrokimia Gresik will introduce nano-technology fertilizers, marking the first nano-nitrogen fertilizer in Indonesia. This fertilizer will complement Petrokimia Gresik's lineup of high-quality products that are sought after by farmers.

"We are preparing certified operators to oversee the Smart Precision Farming program in the upcoming pilot project, allowing it to be replicated by other farmers across various regions in Indonesia, contributing to the advancement of agriculture in the country," he emphasized.

Petrokimia Gresik will equip field officers (Soil Testing Vans and Agroman Mobile) with two types of drones: one for measuring vegetation indices and another for fertilizer application.

"Farmers will receive fertilization recommendations based on soil fertility and plant growth data obtained from the Soil Testing Vans and drones. This ensures precise fertilization tailored to the needs of the crops," he explained.

The measurement of vegetation indices, which will be translated into fertilization recommendations using the NDVI method, will be complemented by drone fertilizer application, utilizing both nano and granule fertilizers.

"The progress of the Smart Precision Farming program was directly reviewed by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Syahrul Yasin Limpo, in Gresik some time ago.
