Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company, a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding company, is committed to supporting the government in developing reliable local human resources (HR) in the industrial sector through the Gagah (Gresik Reliable Generation, Expert and Reliable). This program was realized by the company through training and certification for class 2 forklift operators, attended by the local community. The event was opened by Rama Yusron Harbiansyah, Vice President (VP) of Corporate Communications at Petrokimia Gresik, representing President Director Daconi Khotob, in Gresik recently.
Separately, Daconi stated that Gresik Regency is known as an Industrial City. The future growth of this sector is certain to accelerate, especially since the central government established a Special Economic Zone (KEK) or integrated industrial area in Manyar District. Therefore, the need for reliable and certified workers in Gresik will be even greater.
"Accelerating industrialization must go hand in hand with improving the competency of the local community, so that they are not merely spectators but are also able to play an active and competitive role," said Daconi.
He further explained that the Gagah program aligns with the development of industrial areas and the increasing need for certified workers in Gresik Regency. This year, 17 participants from eight sub-districts/villages within the first ring, as well as representatives from the Gresik community, participated in the Gagah program, which provides training and certification for Class 2 forklift operators.
Meanwhile, Rama explained that each participant will undergo 10 days of intensive training, consisting of three days of theory, six days of practical training, and one day of competency testing. This will be conducted at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit of the Vocational Training Center (UPTD BLK) of the Gresik Regency Manpower Office (Disnaker).
Through this program, it is hoped that all participants will successfully complete the training and obtain an Operator's Permit (SIO), or official forklift operator license. This will provide all participants with broader job opportunities as the industrial sector in Gresik Regency continues to advance.
"In this activity, Petrokimia Gresik is collaborating with the Gresik Regency Government through the Disnaker to increase the capacity of the community, particularly those living around the company," said Rama.
Finally, Daconi added that the Gagah program serves as an important bridge in strengthening the existing good relationship between Petrokimia Gresik and the Gresik Regency Government. This synergy not only produces a competent workforce but also builds an inclusive, productive, and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
"Hopefully, this program will serve as a foundation for the people of Gresik to build a better future. Each participant is a generation that will one day become the pride of their families, region, and nation," he concluded.
