Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding company, held the "Petro Fishtival Gogoh Iwak" (Gogoh Iwak Petrofish) as an effort to encourage improved fish farming quality in the Gresik region. The event, held at a fishpond in Gumeno Village, Manyar District, Gresik Regency, on Thursday (December 4, 2025), was attended by Petrokimia Gresik's Director of Finance and General Affairs, Adityo Wibowo.
Adityo Wibowo, as he is familiarly known, explained that the gogoh iwak competition—traditional fishing with bare hands—is not only a creative and entertaining event, but also a platform for Petrokimia Gresik to educate fish farmers about Good Aquaculture Practices (GAP)-compliant fish farming practices, given that the majority of the participants are fish farmers themselves.
"In line with this education, Petrokimia Gresik has a flagship probiotic called Petrofish. This product contains superior microbes that have been proven to increase the productivity of fish and shrimp cultivation. We hope that the knowledge and technology shared today can be adopted by fish farmers, resulting in more abundant and sustainable harvests," said Adit.
He added that the application of Petrofish has several benefits. These include a higher percentage of fish or shrimp survival; increased growth of natural food; improved water quality; and inhibition of the growth of harmful pathogens.
Meanwhile, 2023 data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) indicates that Gresik Regency has a fish pond area of 28,654 hectares, consisting of brackish and freshwater ponds, with the majority located in coastal areas. This potential makes the fisheries sector a vital source of livelihood for the people of Gresik.
"This enormous potential makes Gresik a center for learning, research, and development of fisheries quality. Petrokimia Gresik is committed to encouraging increased productivity in farming and fisheries cultivation," Adit concluded.
He also hoped the gogoh iwak competition would serve as a momentum to attract the interest of the younger generation to actively participate in advancing the fisheries sector. "The success of sustainable fisheries cultivation in the future depends on the involvement of the next generation," he said.
The gogoh iwak competition itself was the main attraction of this event and was the first of its kind held by Petrokimia Gresik. Participants competed to catch tilapia and milkfish in a single pond using their bare hands. The winner was the participant who caught the heaviest fish.
Inaugurates Petromart Official Hub
On the same occasion, Petrokimia Gresik also inaugurated the Petromart Official Hub, a marketing network for the company's developed products located in the Petrokimia Gresik Experimental Garden area, located on Jl. Tri Dharma, Karangturi, Gresik. With the presence of the Petromart Official Hub, Petrokimia Gresik aims to ensure that small-packaged fertilizers and innovative products reach farmers more quickly and accurately, through digital, responsive, and integrated sales services. Customers can also purchase Petrofish here.
"We recognize that farmers' needs are evolving. They require not only quality products, but also easy access, mentoring, and education. Through the Petromart Official Hub, all of this can be realized through closer and warm collaboration," said Adit.
On this occasion, he also stated that sales of Petrokimia Gresik's commercial product, Phonska Liquid, have exceeded 200,000 bottles, thus positively contributing to the company's growth and agricultural productivity in Indonesia. Phonska Liquid is also available at the Petromart Official Hub.
"We hope that the Petromart Official Hub will continue to grow in many regions, strengthening the marketing of Petrokimia Gresik's products and expanding the socio-economic impact on Indonesian farmers," Adit concluded.
