The spirit of healthy living was evident from the enthusiasm of thousands of participants joining the fun walk with PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding. The event, which formed part of the series commemorating Petrokimia Gresik's 54th Anniversary and the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, was held across three areas: Gresik on July 12, Babat, Lamongan on August 2, and Gunungsari, Surabaya, Sunday (9/8/2026).
The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, stated that the fun walk routinely held every year is a form of the company's care in encouraging the adoption of a healthy lifestyle. According to him, health is a basic need that plays a vital role in maintaining productivity and improving the quality of life.
“Through this fun walk, Petrokimia Gresik invites participants to get used to living actively and healthily. We hope this simple activity can serve as momentum to build regular exercise habits while maintaining physical fitness,” said Daconi.
The fun walk series was attended by Petrokimia Gresik employees alongside their families as well as communities surrounding the company's operational areas. In Gresik, the event was part of employee and family bonding activities, whereas in Babat and Gunungsari, local residents actively participated. Participants came from various backgrounds, ranging from children and adults to the elderly.
“Healthy living habits can start from the family environment. We see the enthusiasm of participants across various age groups, from children to the elderly. Hopefully, this routinely executed activity can encourage families to be more active in exercising and keeping healthy,” said Daconi.
Not only a fun walk, Petrokimia Gresik also provided various supporting facilities to deliver broader benefits. Participants were able to utilize free health checkup services, while children enjoyed the playground facilities available at the event venue.
Petrokimia Gresik also provided space for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to set up booths and market their products. The presence of these MSMEs made the fun walk event not only a platform for exercise and gathering, but also a form of the company's support for community economic growth and local business owners.
Furthermore, Daconi said that the fun walk event also serves as a means to strengthen relationships between the company, its personnel, and the community around operational areas. According to him, harmonious relationships are an essential part of maintaining company sustainability.
“This fun walk is not just about exercise, but also about building togetherness. Here, the community, employees, and families can mingle in a warm atmosphere filled with a sense of family. Community support is a crucial part for Petrokimia Gresik in carrying out its mandates, including ensuring the optimal distribution of subsidized fertilizers to support the realization of national food self-sufficiency,” Daconi concluded.
