The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, Monday (27/4/2026), appreciated the hard work of the GPPI team from the beginning of the competition until successfully advancing to the final round. According to him, this Runner Up achievement serves as motivation as well as evaluation material to achieve better results in the upcoming Proliga 2027.
“Mediol Yoku and friends have shown extraordinary hard work. This year's Runner Up is the sixth achievement for our fostered volleyball team in the Proliga event. This must be an encouragement to continue developing and achieve the championship in the future,” said Daconi.
The previous Runner Up achievements of GPPI in the Proliga event were reached in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, and 2022. Meanwhile, top three positions were also achieved in 2004, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2023, and 2025.
“I say congratulations. When compared to last year, this achievement shows an improvement. In the future, of course, it must be even better with the target of winning the championship,” he added.
Meanwhile, in the Grand Final, GPPI performed competitively in the two legs of the match against Jakarta Pertamina Enduro. In the first leg, Friday (24/4/2026), GPPI recorded a score of 1-3 (25-19, 19-25, 19-25, and 20-25), while in the second leg, Saturday (25/4/2026), the match ended with a score of 0-3 (19-25, 23-25, and 20-25).
Echoing this, the Chairman of PBV Petrokimia Gresik, Iwan Febrianto, also appreciated GPPI's Runner Up achievement in the Proliga 2026 event. He emphasized that this result must be a motivation for all players to continue developing.
“This achievement must motivate all players to train harder to achieve the best results in the upcoming Proliga 2027. Moreover, in the current GPPI squad, there are many young players showing great potential,” he said.
“We realize that regeneration is the key to the sustainability of the team's achievements in the future. Therefore, this year we provided opportunities for a number of talented young players to join the main team. They have shown extraordinary performance,” Iwan concluded.
GPPI's participation in Proliga 2026 marks its 23rd participation since the competition was first held, while also confirming the team's consistency as one of the main forces in the national volleyball scene. Proliga was temporarily not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
