Petrokimia Gresik awarded ‘Best Domestic Gas Buyers’ In The 4th ICIUOG 2023 For Contributions to Indonesia's Energy Security and Economy

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustry Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia group, was honored by SKK Migas as "The Best Domestic Gas Buyers" at the 4th International Convention on Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas (ICIUOG) 2023 in Bali on Friday night.

Digna Jatiningsih, the Director of Operations and Production at Petrokimia Gresik, representing Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, explained after receiving the award that SKK Migas appreciated Petrokimia Gresik as a domestic gas buyer for its efforts to maximize the utilization of gas in Indonesia and support the National Gas Lifting Target. Petrokimia Gresik's support is considered to have a significant contribution to Indonesia's energy resilience and economy.

"The gas requirements at Petrokimia Gresik are quite substantial, ranging from the need for fertilizer raw materials to supporting utilities for the production process. We express our gratitude for the support of the Government, especially SKK Migas and related stakeholders, for the smooth supply of gas to Petrokimia Gresik. This allows us to be more optimal in fulfilling the national fertilizer needs," said Digna.

She added that the current gas demand at Petrokimia Gresik is 144 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD). The company's performance can be further optimized, and the plant can operate at full capacity or 100 percent after receiving additional gas from the Jambaran Tiung Biru (JTB) Unitization Field, Bojonegoro, East Java, amounting to 15 MMSCFD.

The signing of the Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with Pertamina EP Cepu, as the Cooperation Contract Contractor (KKKS) of JTB, was held at the same event, ICIUOG Bali. The additional gas from JTB will be utilized by Petrokimia Gresik as raw material for fertilizers and for supporting utilities in the production process of both fertilizer and non-fertilizer products.

At the same event, Digna also signed a memorandum of understanding with Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML). She revealed that Petrokimia Gresik has been a gas buyer from the MDA-MBH Field, BD Field, and MAC Field in the Madura Straits Working Area, all managed by HCML. To ensure a continuous gas supply from HCML, through this memorandum of understanding, Petrokimia Gresik seeks to explore plans for purchasing gas from other fields in the Madura Straits Working Area.

"The smooth supply of gas to Petrokimia Gresik has a sustained positive impact in maintaining national food security, increasing agricultural productivity, and the welfare of local farmers, as well as supporting Pupuk Indonesia's global initiatives," concluded Digna.

Meanwhile, SKK Migas organized ICIUOG 2023 with the theme "Advancing Energy Security through Sustainable Oil and Gas Exploration and Development" as a platform to optimize collaboration in improving the investment climate and creativity that supports the maximum utilization of Indonesia's vast oil and gas potential to ensure national energy resilience.
