The 2026 PetroNite Fest, held by Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding company, served as a showcase for the superior products of the villages and sub-districts surrounding the company. Eight booths from the villages and sub-districts showcased a variety of superior products typical of their respective regions, ranging from herbal drinks and processed foods to food products made from locally grown ingredients. The presence of these products was a major draw for the thousands of visitors who crowded the Tri Dharma Sports Facility (SOR) area in Gresik.
One booth that attracted the most interest was the Sukorame Sub-district booth. At this booth, visitors could enjoy fresh passion fruit drinks and Brazilian spinach crackers, all of which were made from locally grown ingredients. Retno Istanti (62), a member of the Sukorame Sub-district booth team, explained that both products stem from the potential developed by the community.
"In Sukorame, there's a Passion Fruit Village. These plants are cultivated by our own residents. Currently, there are around 10 passion fruit trellises growing productively. Furthermore, almost every household grows Brazilian spinach in pots. We then process these passion fruit and spinach into superior village products," said the woman familiarly known as Tanti.
She explained that the passion fruit cultivation is managed collaboratively by the residents. In Neighborhood Association (RW) 1 alone, there are 12 women and 10 men actively caring for around 100 passion fruit plants, both yellow and purple varieties.
Meanwhile, Brazilian spinach is now growing in hundreds of pots owned by residents. These easy-to-care-for plants are not only used as vegetables but also processed into crackers, providing added economic value.
According to Tanti, participation in the PetroNite Fest year after year has had a tangible impact on the development of community businesses. Sukorame products, previously marketed solely through social media and direct sales from home, are now gaining recognition and a broader reach.
"Previously, we only promoted them through WhatsApp stories and sold them from home. Now, because we frequently participate in exhibitions like this, our product is becoming more well-known. Orders continue to increase. During Eid, for example, sales of passion fruit drinks can reach around 100 boxes, each containing 16 glasses," she said.
This growth is inextricably linked to Petrokimia Gresik's assistance through the Lontar (Snack Group) Program. The company not only assists with the production process but also provides marketing support so that locals can market their superior products at the Petrokimia Gresik Family Employees' Consumer Cooperative (K3PG) supermarket booth.
"The support is very comprehensive, including marketing strategies. One way to do this is by providing opportunities to participate in the PetroNite Fest, which is visited by thousands of people every day," added Tanti.
The Karangturi Village community has also experienced similar success. Through Petrokimia Gresik's support, they have successfully developed red ginger into a convenient, powdered instant drink. The product is now marketed in sachets and bottles and has become one of Karangturi's flagship products.
Yuanita Fitri Agustin (45), a member of the Karangturi booth team, said that the entire business development process began with the company's coaching program.
"We obtained red ginger seeds from Petrokimia Gresik, then received guidance on everything from cultivation to processing them into a powdered drink. Now this product is one of our flagship products," she said.
According to Nita, this success has opened up additional income opportunities for the Karangturi community. In addition to being marketed through the K3PG Supermarket, the red ginger products are also sold in people's homes.
In addition to herbal drinks, the Karangturi booth also featured lontong Ubus, a Gresik specialty that is always sought after by visitors. During the PetroNite Fest, approximately 40 boxes of lontong Ubus, priced at Rp12,000 per box, were sold out every day.
"Thank God, we always have the opportunity to participate in PetroNite Fest. Activities like this really help increase the income of MSMEs in Karangturi," she said.
PetroNite Fest 2026, held to commemorate Petrokimia Gresik's 54th anniversary, will feature 670 tenants, including 558 street vendors (PKL), 73 outdoor VIP booths, and 39 indoor VIP booths. The event will run until July 5, 2026. Petrokimia Gresik also involves 12 partner tenants under its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, eight of which are from villages and sub-districts surrounding the company: Karangpoh, Karangturi, Roomo, Sukorame, Kroman, Lumpur, Ngipik, and Tlogopojok.
Through PetroNite Fest, Petrokimia Gresik continues to strengthen community empowerment by providing broader promotional access for superior village products and the surrounding sub-districts. Local potential previously marketed on a limited scale now has the opportunity to reach more consumers, develop into sustainable businesses, and improve community welfare.
