Entering its 54th anniversary, Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding company, continues to demonstrate positive performance amidst the dynamics of the national and global fertilizer industry. This achievement serves as a crucial foundation for the company's continued sustainable growth, particularly for Indonesian agriculture, in line with Petrokimia Gresik's 54th Anniversary theme, "Growing the Future."
This positive performance can be seen in year-over-year production. Petrokimia Gresik's fertilizer production in 2025 reached 4,683,477 tons, an increase of approximately 105 percent compared to the 2024 production volume of 4,474,914 tons. This positive performance continued into the first semester of 2026. As of June 2026, fertilizer production reached 2,716,141 tons, an increase compared to the 2,431,506 tons produced in the same period in 2025. This achievement further strengthens the company's operational performance, considering that the 2026 fertilizer production target is set at 106% of the 2025 target.
Petrokimia Gresik's President Director, Daconi Khotob, while leading the 54th anniversary ceremony of Petrokimia Gresik in Gresik on Friday (July 10, 2026), stated that the company's positive performance and journey over more than five decades are inseparable from its ability to continuously adapt to change and respond to various challenges. This ability is a crucial asset for Petrokimia Gresik to continue supporting national food self-sufficiency while advancing Indonesia's agricultural sector.
"Amidst geopolitical dynamics, climate change, and fluctuating energy and raw material prices that still overshadow the fertilizer industry, Petrokimia Gresik continues to strengthen the company's foundations to enable sustainable growth, increase competitiveness, and provide broader benefits to Indonesian agriculture," he said.
"Today's positive performance must serve as a foundation for creating sustainable growth and delivering greater value in the future," Daconi added.
Daconi further added that the "Growing the Future" spirit is also realized through various strategic steps, from strengthening the flexibility of production facilities and improving the reliability of raw material infrastructure, ensuring long-term energy availability, and accelerating the transformation towards a more sustainable industry.
One such step is modifying Phosphate Plant I into Phonska Plant V with Flex-Phos technology. This technology allows a single facility to produce Phonska NPK, NPK Solid Granulation, and phosphate fertilizer, giving the company greater flexibility in meeting market demand while supporting the resilience of the national fertilizer industry.
To strengthen its raw material supply, Petrokimia Gresik is also constructing two sulfuric acid tanks with a total capacity of 40,000 tons. Once completed, the company's sulfuric acid storage capacity will increase to 100,000 tons.
In the logistics sector, the company is currently constructing Pier A, designed to serve vessels with a capacity of up to 60,000 Deadweight Tonnage (DWT), with a loading and unloading capacity of up to 4 million tons per year. This infrastructure development is expected to improve the company's logistics flow and maintain the Berth Occupancy Ratio (BOR) at an optimal level.
The company's operational reliability is also strengthened through a partnership to supply gas from the MDA-MBH Field in the Madura Strait and the Ketapang Working Area in the waters north of Madura Island. This partnership has the potential to increase gas supply by approximately 30–35 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD), supporting Petrokimia Gresik's operations until 2035.
"Transformation for us is not just about growing the company, but about making Petrokimia Gresik more adaptive, efficient, and resilient in responding to future needs. Therefore, we continue to strengthen production capabilities, the reliability of raw material and energy supplies, and undertake industrial transformation to ensure the company remains sustainable and provides greater benefits to Indonesian agriculture," explained Daconi.
This strengthening of the business foundation goes hand in hand with the company's commitment to sustainability. In 2025, Petrokimia Gresik was designated as a pilot project for the implementation of Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technology by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. This initiative is part of the company's decarbonization roadmap for the 2025–2030 period.
According to Daconi, the company's growth must always go hand in hand with sustainability and the ability to deliver greater benefits to society. Therefore, all transformations undertaken are aimed not only at increasing the company's competitiveness but also at strengthening its contribution to the agricultural, industrial, community, and national sectors.
