PRODUCTION REACHES 6.59 MILLION TONS, PETROKIMIA GRESIK SUPPORTS NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY AND INDUSTRY

PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, recorded a total fertilizer and non-fertilizer production of 6.59 million tons through September 2026. This achievement reinforces the company's contribution to supporting fertilizer availability for farmers while providing basic chemical raw materials and non-fertilizer products to sustain national industrial needs.

Out of the total production, more than 4 million tons consisted of fertilizer products playing a crucial role in supporting national agricultural productivity. Meanwhile, the production of basic chemical raw materials and non-fertilizer products reached nearly 2.5 million tons to support various industrial requirements. This achievement reflects Petrokimia Gresik's capability to maintain productivity in order to support these two strategic sectors in a sustainable manner.

President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, in Gresik, East Java, Tuesday (27/10/2026), stated that this milestone demonstrates the company's ability to preserve productivity to back two national strategic sectors, namely agriculture and industry. According to him, the production of fertilizer and basic chemicals holds a vital role in reinforcing food security while supporting the continuity of national industrial activities and the economy.

“This production achievement is not merely a number, but reflects the magnitude of Petrokimia Gresik's responsibility in supporting community and industrial needs. In the agricultural sector, our role is to provide fertilizer to sustain farmer productivity. Meanwhile, through the production of basic chemicals and non-fertilizers, we also contribute to supporting the continuity of various national industrial activities,” Daconi said.

He explained that this achievement was inseparable from the company's efforts to enhance operational reliability, efficiency, and production process effectiveness. Optimization of plant capabilities is continuously carried out to maintain productivity while ensuring the company's readiness to fulfill product demands sustainably.

These steps were further strengthened through internal corporate innovation, one of which was GIO FILTER 1B developed at Ammonia Plant 1B. Through the addition of Molecular Dryer Filter 154-LC to enhance production process reliability, this innovation successfully reduced potential ammonia production losses (loss product) from a previous 13,409.21 tons to zero in the handled unit. The innovation also supported an increase in daily production from 1,970.21 tons to 2,000 tons, while generating cost efficiencies reported to reach Rp9.5 billion.

In the agricultural sector, Petrokimia Gresik continues to strengthen synergy with Pupuk Indonesia Group to support readiness ahead of the October–March planting season. Coordination is conducted to ensure alignment between production capacity, stock availability, and subsidized fertilizer distribution needs, so that the fulfillment of farmers' requirements can be supported in accordance with government-allocated quotas and regulations.

“Entering the planting season, fertilizer availability becomes one of the essential factors supporting farming activities. Therefore, we continue to strengthen coordination with Pupuk Indonesia Group so that production readiness aligns with distribution requirements, ensuring subsidized fertilizer is available to farmers according to applicable provisions,” he explained.

Daconi emphasized that this achievement serves as encouragement for Petrokimia Gresik to keep boosting productivity through operational reinforcement and innovation development. This effort simultaneously forms part of the company's commitment to supporting Pupuk Indonesia in executing government mandates within the fertilizer sector and strengthening contributions to national economic development.

“Productive agriculture and competitive industry both require continuous supply support. Therefore, Petrokimia Gresik will continue to enhance its production capabilities so that the benefits we deliver are felt not only by farmers, but also capable of supporting progress across various industrial sectors. This is the tangible contribution we aim to continuously strengthen for Indonesia,” he concluded.
