Petrokimia Gresik Secures Raw Material Supply through International Cooperation

Petrokimia Gresik, a leading Agroindustry Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia group, has ensured the supply of raw materials by building communication with various countries at the International "Fertilizer Association (IFA) Crossroads Asia-Pacific Conference" in Bangkok, Thailand, from October 10 to 12, 2023. This was announced by Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, on Friday (October 13, 2023).

Dwi Satriyo stated that Petrokimia Gresik is the most comprehensive fertilizer and chemical producer in Indonesia, as well as the largest NPK producer in Southeast Asia. Some of its raw materials are still not fully sourced domestically. Therefore, he emphasized that Petrokimia Gresik continues to build communication with countries that supply raw materials to ensure a secure supply.

"The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has disrupted the supply of fertilizer raw materials to producers in several countries. Fortunately, Petrokimia Gresik has collaborations with many raw material-producing countries. To strengthen this collaboration, I have delegated our Director of Operations & Production to attend this event to ensure the security of raw material supplies for national fertilizer production," said Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, Digna Jatiningsih, Director of Operations and Production at Petrokimia Gresik, attending the event, stated that the IFA conference brings together many buyers, traders, and suppliers from various countries. The fertilizer raw materials produced by Petrokimia Gresik that still require support from other countries include KCl, DAP, Phosphate Rock, Ammonium Sulphate, Sulphuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Sulphur, and several others.

"Petrokimia Gresik has undertaken many developments, such as plans to build the Phonska V Plant to increase NPK production capacity, as well as other development projects. Therefore, the need for raw materials will also increase," she said.

Petrokimia Gresik has been receiving potassium supplies from Canada, Russia, Belarus, and Jordan. The company is also exploring collaboration with other potassium-producing countries such as Laos, as well as Middle Eastern countries, to ensure a more reliable potassium supply.

"Petrokimia Gresik continues to explore various collaboration models. In addition to innovating raw material substitution, Petrokimia Gresik is also considering cooperation schemes to establish plants abroad to be closer to the raw materials," she concluded.

The "IFA Crossroads Asia-Pacific Conference" is a flagship event of the IFA, an international fertilizer organization that oversees the fertilizer industry and companies worldwide. This conference is open to all members with interests in the Asia-Pacific region. Topics covered include fertilizer industry transformation, fertilizer supply, agricultural issues, and food-related matters.
