The Self-Use Terminal (TUKS) owned by Petrokimia Gresik, an Agro-Industry Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding company, was named the best national port in the Green and Smart Port assessment at the 2026 Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful (ASRI) Green and Smart Port Initiatives (GSPI). The award was presented directly by Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan (Menko Zulhas), at the peak of the 2026 GSPI ASRI event, which was also attended by a number of Indonesian Cabinet ministers, including Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Environment Moh Jumhur Hidayat, and Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, at Pier C of Petrokimia Gresik, East Java, on Tuesday (7/15/2026).
Based on the Green and Smart Port (GSP) assessment, TUKS Petrokimia Gresik has successfully earned the title of best national port. The assessment was conducted comprehensively based on the Green and Smart Port Guidelines 3.0/2023, which refer to national regulations and international best practices.
The title of best national port was achieved after TUKS Petrokimia Gresik recorded a final score of 94 percent in the Green and Smart Port (GSP) assessment, an increase from 82 percent achieved in 2022. This achievement is the result of the consistent application of Green and Smart Port principles through strengthening port governance, energy efficiency, an integrated digital-based operational system, and continuous innovation to support the smooth supply of raw materials for the production process and distribution of fertilizers to various regions in Indonesia.
In his remarks, Coordinating Minister Zulhas stated that food security is not solely determined by production output. A reliable logistics system is also key to ensuring food reaches all regions of Indonesia effectively and efficiently.
"Ports are strategic hubs connecting production, distribution, and food availability throughout Indonesia. Therefore, transforming ports into green and smart ecosystems is no longer an option, but a necessity," said Coordinating Minister Zulhas.
He added that the GSPI ASRI is not just an awards program. This program serves as a platform to strengthen our shared commitment to building competitive ports, supporting food security, and preserving the environment.
According to him, the government will also continue to refine the implementation of GSPI ASRI by strengthening assessment instruments, enhancing ASRI aspects, and expanding port participation in various regions to accelerate the transformation of the port sector.
On the occasion, Coordinating Minister Zulhas and his ministry officials inspected several facilities at TUKS Petrokimia Gresik, demonstrating the implementation of sustainability, safety, operational efficiency, and digitalization in port management.
Petrokimia Gresik's President Director, Daconi Khotob, stated that the award recognizes the company's commitment to developing port management that is not only operationally reliable but also prioritizes safety, sustainability, innovation, and digitalization.
"For us, ports are strategic infrastructure that ensures the smooth supply of raw materials for the production process and distribution of fertilizers to various regions in Indonesia, supporting national food sovereignty. This award recognizes the hard work of all Petrokimia Gresik employees and the support of stakeholders in delivering increasingly green, smart, and competitive port management," said Daconi.
He emphasized that the award motivates the company to continue its sustainable transformation.
"We will not stop at this award. Going forward, we will continue to maximize port transformation through strengthening digitalization, improving safety standards, service efficiency, and continuous innovation to provide added value for the company while supporting the national food logistics system," Daconi said.
The 2026 GSPI ASRI Award marks an important milestone for Petrokimia Gresik in strengthening its Green and Smart Port-based port transformation. This commitment is expected to further strengthen the company's role in supporting an efficient, sustainable national logistics system and supporting Indonesia's food security.
