PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, won the Gold Winner in the Best Media Relations Program Category at the 2026 Media Relations Award organized by the Press Companies Association (Serikat Perusahaan Pers - SPS). The award was achieved through the Petrokimia Gresik Media Award (PMA) program and was presented during the award night in Jakarta, Friday (31/7/2026).

The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, stated that this award is an appreciation for the company's efforts to build open, professional, and sustainable media relations. Through these relations, the company helps drive the delivery of accurate, balanced, and comprehensive information to the public.

“The media plays an important role in bridging information between the company and the public. Therefore, we do not only provide information, but also open up space for dialogue and mutual learning so that various strategic issues can be understood more thoroughly,” said Daconi.

He explained that PMA was developed not merely as a competition program and appreciation of journalistic works, but also as a platform for education, interaction, and direct experience for media personnel. The program is carried out routinely every four months (caturwulan) by involving journalists assigned in Gresik Regency.

Through PMA, media personnel get the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the fertilizer industry, the company's business processes, subsidized fertilizer policies, occupational health and safety (K3), environment, sustainability, as well as various other strategic issues.

PMA activities are packaged interactively and participatively through sharing sessions, thematic discussions, educational quizzes, and experience-based activities. Some of the activities that have been held include the Warta Quiz with the “Ranking 1” competition concept, simulations of using light fire extinguishers, fire handling simulations, as well as first aid practices and cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR. This approach is part of a media relations strategy that integrates engagement, education, and experiential learning.

“A complete understanding of an issue will help the media convey information to the public more accurately and in a balanced manner. This is important, especially for strategic issues such as subsidized fertilizer, environment, work safety, and food security, which are directly related to the public interest,” stated Daconi.

PMA accommodates journalistic works from online media, print media, and television through a number of categories, including Most Journalistic Works, Best Journalistic Works, and Best Non-Release Works. The Non-Release Category encourages media personnel to dig deeper into information beyond the company's press release materials, ranging from company performance, Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs, innovation, sustainability, to Petrokimia Gresik's contribution to the community.

Throughout the implementation of the program in 2025, PMA involved 78 journalists. The program also recorded a journalist satisfaction and understanding level of 88.76 percent. This achievement shows that PMA not only enhances interaction with the media, but also strengthens understanding of company and fertilizer industry issues.

The Media Relations Award 2026 is an appreciation event organized by SPS for corporations, institutions, and universities that are assessed to have successfully managed high-quality and responsible media relations programs. This year, as many as 186 entries from 52 corporations, institutions, and universities participated in the competition.

Petrokimia Gresik won the Gold Winner through an entry entitled “Beyond Exposure: Petrokimia Gresik Media Award (PMA) Program”. This program carries a media relations approach that is not only publication-oriented, but also builds strategic partnerships through engagement, education, and direct experience.

“This award serves as a motivation as well as an evaluation material for us to continuously improve the quality of corporate communications. Going forward, Petrokimia Gresik will continue to expand space for dialogue, strengthen information transparency, and support the media in delivering beneficial information to the public,” Daconi concluded.
