Petrokimia Gresik, a prominent Agroindustry Solution company, partnered with Pupuk Indonesia to support the BUMN Affordable Market event at Lapangan Tugu Pahlawan, Surabaya, on Sunday, August 13. The initiative, led by the Ministry of BUMN, saw the presence of Indonesia's Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir.
During a press conference, Minister Erick addressed the ongoing prolonged dry season, attributed to the El Nino effect, expressing concerns about potential decreased productivity in food-producing regions. Consequently, the President of Indonesia has emphasized several measures, including ensuring sufficient rice stocks. BUMN has been urged to organize Affordable Markets across various cities, and Surabaya is one of them.
"We have conducted Affordable Markets in many locations, such as Malang yesterday and now in Surabaya, with plans for more in numerous cities. BUMN is committed to ensuring food security and stable prices," emphasized Minister Erick.
Accompanying Minister Erick Thohir, Dwi Satriyo, the CEO of Petrokimia Gresik, conveyed the company's readiness to support the BUMN Affordable Market program, underscoring Petrokimia Gresik's commitment to contributing to societal well-being.
"As part of our routine efforts, we consistently share groceries and organize affordable markets. Previously, Petrokimia Gresik conducted a successful Affordable Market and UMKM Bazaar in collaboration with the Special Staff (Stafsus) III of the Minister of BUMN, Arya Sinulingga, during his visit to Gresik," stated Dwi Satriyo.
In collaboration with PT Pupuk Indonesia and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), Petrokimia Gresik facilitated the sale of 3,000 grocery packages, each valued at Rp96,500, at an affordable price of Rp40,000 per package. Each package includes essential items such as 5 kilograms of rice, 1 kilogram of sugar, and 1 liter of cooking oil.
"This Affordable Market initiative is also a tangible manifestation of our Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. We recognize that the progress of our company is intricately tied to the support of the surrounding community," emphasized Dwi Satriyo.
Meanwhile, Anik, a visitor from Krembangan District, Surabaya, expressed how the event significantly aids her family's economic situation. The funds typically allocated for groceries can now be redirected to address other essential needs.
"I hope this initiative continues, becoming a frequent occurrence to bolster the economic well-being of families in Surabaya," she concluded.
