PETROKIMIA GRESIK DAYCARE WINS AWARD FROM EAST JAVA PROVINCE'S BKKBN

PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, received an award from the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) of East Java Province for its commitment to providing a Child Daycare Center (TPA/daycare) within the company environment. The award was presented by the Vice Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak, to the Director of Development of Petrokimia Gresik, Herdijanto Utomo, at the peak of the National Family Day (Harganas) commemoration in Malang, East Java, recently.

Herdijanto Utomo, who is affectionately known as Didik, in Gresik, East Java, Thursday (30/7/2026), stated that this award serves as a motivation for the company to continue providing a family-friendly work environment. According to him, the welfare of workers and their families is an essential part of the company's sustainability.

"Petrokimia Gresik believes that company success is not only determined by business performance, but also by the commitment to improving the welfare of workers and their families. The daycare serves as a concrete form of company support so that parents, especially working mothers, can work with peace of mind while ensuring that children's rights remain fulfilled," said Didik.

Petrokimia Gresik, through the TPA of the Petrokimia Gresik Employees' Wives Association (PIKA PG), has been organizing early childhood care services within the company environment since 1993. It is located in the company's official housing area.

He further explained that Petrokimia Gresik periodically conducts mapping of workers who have young children. The results serve as the basis for determining service capacity, as well as formulating various policies that support workers' families. This mapping ensures that services match current needs.

Currently, there are seven caregivers at the Petrokimia Gresik Daycare. All of them hold competency certificates in child custody rights and positive parenting. In carrying out its role, Didik added, the daycare routinely monitors children's growth and development through checks on weight, height, head circumference, and immunizations recorded in the Maternal and Child Health (KIA) Book.

Mentorship for parents is also a concern for Petrokimia Gresik. Through collaboration with Grha Husada Hospital, the daycare periodically organizes parenting programs.

Daycare services are also reinforced through cooperation with the Fisherman Community Health Center (Puskesmas Nelayan) of Gresik Regency. The cooperation is set out in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a form of support for health referral services for children.

Didik added that the benefits of Petrokimia Gresik's daycare are not only felt by workers' families. To date, the daycare serves 56 children consisting of 22 children of Petrokimia Gresik employees and 34 children from the general public, ranging in age from three months to six or seven years old.

"This award proves that collaboration between the company, government, caregiving staff, and families is capable of creating quality child care services. Moving forward, we will continue to improve service quality so that Petrokimia Gresik Daycare can become a benchmark for child-friendly corporate daycare operations," he concluded.

Previously, Petrokimia Gresik Daycare also received appreciation from the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia, Arifah Fauzi. During a visit to Petrokimia Gresik some time ago, the Minister of PPPA assessed that this daycare has provided broad benefits because it does not only serve employees' children, but also the surrounding community.
