Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, continues to strengthen long-term gas supply resilience to support the sustainability of national fertilizer production. This effort is realized through the strengthening of gas supply cooperation from the MDA-MBH Field in the Madura Strait and the Ketapang Working Area (WK) in the Northern Waters of Madura Island.
Through the strengthening of this cooperation, Petrokimia Gresik potentially secures an additional gas supply of around 30–35 MMSCFD to strengthen the company's operational reliability in supporting the sustainability of fertilizer production and other agroindustrial products until 2035.
This strategic step was marked by the signing of a Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) between Petrokimia Gresik and Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) for the MDA-MBH Field, which was witnessed directly by the Head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, as well as the signing of a Head of Agreement (HoA) with PC Ketapang II Ltd regarding the planned gas sales and purchase cooperation in the Ketapang Working Area. The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, directly signed both cooperation agreements with the related parties in Tangerang, recently.
The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, stated that strengthening synergy between the fertilizer industry and the energy sector is a strategic step in maintaining production sustainability while supporting the national food security agenda.
“Natural gas is one of the main raw materials in the fertilizer production process. Therefore, certainty of gas supply and strengthening collaboration with energy suppliers are important parts of the company's commitment to maintaining operational sustainability and supporting national agricultural sector productivity,” said Daconi.
Through this cooperation, Petrokimia Gresik strengthens gas supply certainty to support the company's operational sustainability. The signing of the HoA with PC Ketapang II Ltd is also an initial step in strengthening long-term strategic gas supply cooperation to reinforce the company's energy supply reliability in the future.
The cooperation also reflects the company's ongoing commitment to building a reliable, adaptive, and sustainable energy supply system. Daconi added that collaboration between the fertilizer industry and the energy sector plays a strategic role in maintaining the stability of national fertilizer production amidst global industrial dynamics.
“Cross-sector synergy is an important foundation for strengthening national industrial resilience. Petrokimia Gresik is committed to continuing to build strategic partnerships that provide long-term benefits for Indonesia's agricultural sector and food security,” he added.
The PJBG between Petrokimia Gresik and HCML was signed by the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob together with the General Manager of HCML, Wang Kaifei, who was represented by the VP of Marketing, Legal, and Business Support of HCML, Wahyudin Sunarya.
