Over the past five years, the Agrosolution Program by Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding, has successfully increased sugarcane productivity across an accumulated land area reaching 244,721 hectares (ha) spread across various regions in Indonesia. The benefits of this program are now being expanded through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Director of Risk Management of Petrokimia Gresik, Johanes Barus, together with PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN), PT Pabrik Gula (PG) Rajawali I, and PT PG Candi Baru in Gresik, recently.

"Petrokimia Gresik is collaborating with SGN and several subsidiaries of ID FOOD, namely PG Rajawali I and PG Candi Baru, to strengthen the sugarcane farming ecosystem from upstream to downstream. Alhamdulillah, this program has been able to deliver a sustainable positive impact on increasing productivity and farmer welfare," said Johanes.

He explained that the Agrosolution Program is a form of Petrokimia Gresik’s support for national sugar self-sufficiency. The program began in 2021, and has successfully increased sugarcane harvests with land coverage that continues to grow every year, namely 6,747 ha in 2021, increasing to 47,700 ha in 2022, 53,888 ha in 2023, 60,501 ha in 2024, and reaching 75,885 ha in 2025.

The program is implemented in East Java, Central Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The Agrosolution Program on average is able to increase sugarcane productivity by 12 percent. Through these increased yields, farmers' income has also risen by an average of Rp8.1 million per hectare.

"This achievement is the result of increasingly optimal cultivation management, supported by the efficient use of agro-inputs and the application of more targeted cultivation practices," he stated.

Furthermore, Johanes said that this program also contributes to the national agenda and aligns with the Asta Cita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, which includes reducing import dependency, strengthening domestic production, and building a modern and sustainable agricultural system.

"Most importantly, this program is also able to reduce sugarcane farmers' dependence on subsidized fertilizers. All agro-inputs used in Agrosolution are non-subsidized products. Farmers need not worry, as the use of non-subsidized fertilizers has proven to be capable of increasing their income," Johanes remarked.

The Agrosolution Program is an upstream-to-downstream agricultural ecosystem, both on-farm and off-farm, which is implemented through collaboration with various stakeholders, including banking institutions providing capital support for farmers, insurance agencies, and agricultural off-takers.

At the same event, the Director of Finance of SGN, Hariyanto, expressed gratitude for the cooperation that has been established since 2021 and is now being continued. According to him, this program provides many benefits, not only for farmers, but also in the collective effort to achieve national sugar self-sufficiency.

"In this cooperation, SGN acts as the off-taker or buyer of the sugarcane produced by the Agrosolution Program to provide market guarantees to the sugarcane farmers. Thank you for this partnership opportunity," said Hariyanto.

Finally, Johanes added that in this program, Petrokimia Gresik provides guarantees for the supply of non-subsidized fertilizers to sugarcane farmers fostered by Sugar Mills (PG) under SGN and ID FOOD Group. Petrokimia Gresik also provides socialization on balanced fertilization, cultivation assistance, pest and disease control, soil testing services through Petrokimia Gresik Agronomists, and Smart Precision Farming through Petrospring. Through this support, farmers receive fertilization recommendations suited to soil conditions and crop needs, making them more precise, effective, and efficient.

“The signing of this MoU is a form of greater acceleration. With stronger synergy, we are optimistic that this collaboration can increase sugarcane productivity while encouraging the realization of sustainable national sugar self-sufficiency," Johanes concluded.
