CONSISTENTLY NURTURING ATHLETES, PETROKIMIA GRESIK WINS "JATIM SPORT1V" AWARD

PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an Agroindustrial Solutions company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, won the “JATIM SPORT1V” award in the Sports-Caring Business Entity Category for its consistency in supporting the development and achievement of athletes. The award from the Vice Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak, was received by VP Corporate Communication of Petrokimia Gresik, Ari Primantara, representing Petrokimia Gresik Management during the 2026 National Sports Day (Haornas) commemoration series in Surabaya, Sunday (20/9/2026).

Ari stated that this award serves as an appreciation as well as motivation for Petrokimia Gresik to continue playing a role in building a sports ecosystem capable of producing high-achieving athletes. The company's support to date has been realized through athlete development, club and academy development, competitions, and involvement in sports organizations.

“Petrokimia Gresik is not solely oriented toward business achievements. We also want the company's existence to deliver broader benefits to society, including through sports development. We believe that athletic achievements are not born overnight, but through a long process that requires an ecosystem and sustainable support,” said Ari.

One such commitment is manifested through support for Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia (GPPI), a women's volleyball team that has recorded various achievements at the national level. In addition to developing a professional team, Petrokimia Gresik also runs a volleyball academy as a platform for athlete development and regeneration from a young age.

In weightlifting, Petrokimia Gresik alongside Pupuk Indonesia has consistently supported the organizing of national championships in recent years as a platform for competition and athlete development. This sport has a track record of achievement up to the international level, including the Olympics.

Beyond volleyball and weightlifting, Petrokimia Gresik's support encompasses swimming through the Petrokimia Gresik Swimming Club (KRPG), gymnastics, archery, basketball, tennis, and diving. Petrokimia Gresik management and personnel also take active roles in sports organizations, such as the Indonesian Gymnastics Association (Persani) of East Java and the Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) of Gresik Regency.

“The more development platforms and competitions available, the greater the opportunities for high-achieving athletes to emerge. We hope Petrokimia Gresik's contribution can be part of their journey to take regional and Indonesian achievements to a higher level,” Ari added.

Vice Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak appreciated companies that pay attention to sports development. According to him, the involvement of the business sector is an essential element in building a strong and sustainable sports ecosystem.

Emil also encouraged companies to utilize their communication channels to publish various sports achievements. Such publications are considered able to further highlight athletic accomplishments while inspiring the public, particularly the younger generation. He hopes the active contribution of the business sector, including Petrokimia Gresik, can strengthen collaboration in advancing sports in East Java.

Ari emphasized that the “JATIM SPORT1V” award is not the ultimate goal of Petrokimia Gresik's support for sports. Rather, the award serves as encouragement for the company to maintain consistency and expand its contributions to athlete development and performance enhancement.

“This award represents an appreciation as well as a responsibility for us to keep contributing. Petrokimia Gresik hopes the support provided can yield real benefits, not only for athletes, but also for the advancement of sports in East Java and Indonesia,” Ari concluded.
