BESTRO improves the Human Resources

Commitment of PT Petrokimia Gresik to grow and develop with community surrounding company is implemented through CSR programs. One of it is a program which aimed to improve the quality of the surrounding Human Resources (HR) through education. The consistency of Petro scholarship aid (BESTRO) is one of the tangible manifestations of Petrokimia Gresik's commitment to make more capable HR. This full cover scholarship is also to support the education improvement in Gresik Regency.

Petrokimia Gresik Scholarship (BESTRO) is given since 2012 for undergraduate (S1) and on 2014 for High school (SM/SMK). The recipient of BESTRO S1 since 2012 there are 106 undergraduate students, and for BESTRO SMA/SMK there are 197 students. BESTRO is only given to the students from economically disadvantage family. They are the children who live in surrounding company.

BESTRO S1 maximum is given for 4 (four) years, while BESTRO SMA/SMK maximum for 3 (three) years or until they graduate.The scholarship recipient also given training to improve their soft skill.

The registrant of BESTRO S1 is from student who is accepted in University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Padjadjaran University, Diponegoro University (Undip), Airlangga University, Surabaya National University (Unesa), Brawijaya University (Unbraw), Malang National University (UM), Maulana Malik Ibrahim National Islamic University, Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and 10 November Institute of Technology (ITS) with A accreditation of study program.

For BESTRO SMA/SMK is selected from SMA/SMK and Madrasah Aliyah (MA) in Gresik, Manyar, and Kebomas sub—district. That is SMAN 1 Gresik, SMAN 1 Kebomas, SMAN 1 Manyar, SMK PGRI 1 Gresik, SMA NU 1 Gresik, SMA NU 2 Gresik, SMK NU Gresik, SMA Yasmu Manyar, SMK Yasmu Manyar, and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik.

The scholarship of BESTRO S1 and SMA/SMK 2019 generation was given in Wisma Kebomas Gresik (23/12/2019). The recipients of BESTRO 2019 are 10 undergraduate students from various state universities, and 25 high school students surrounding company. The total cost of BESTRO assistance in 2019 provided until graduation is Rp1.9 billion. While total the BESTRO assistance given since 2012 until 2019 are about Rp18,04 billion.

Finance, Human Resources and General Affairs Director of PT Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Ary Purnomo represented the President Director, Rahmad Pribadi, conveyed that BESTRO is one of effort for the good cooperation and synergy between Petrokimia Gresik with surrounding community. Support from surrounding community has big role for the smooth running of Petrokimia Gresik operational which transforming the business towards agroindustry solutions company. As a holding member of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), Petrokimia Gresik carries out the mandate to support the realization of national food security. According to Dwi, BESTRO is a small step of Petrokimia Gresik do to be big step, that is supporting education for surrounding community. With better education, it is expected can increase the standard of living of the family, and can contribute positively to the community, nation and country.

“BESTRO is our mission to increase the living standard of the community through education, so that later they able to contribute more to family, community, and nation,” said Dwi.

Dwi hopes to all BESTRO recipient to utilize this scholarship well, and focuses to complete their study. Dwi also gave an advice to the BESTRO recipient to always pray and ask to ease their study, always respect their parents and teachers, as well as serious and never give up to reach the dream.

In the event of the handover of 2019 BESTRO aid, also held a symbolic release of the BESTRO 2015 recipients who had finished their education in college by Dwi Ary Purnomo.

Representative of the BESTRO 2015 recipients, Ridhotul Islam, advised to all scholarship recipients to focus on studying. “This scholarship is very useful so we don’t need to worry about the education cost. Utilize this chance to study well, and developed yourself with any activities, so that later we can give a benefit for surrounding us, such as Petrokimia Gresik which will not stop spreading benefits to the communities around the company, "said the graduate of Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.

The 7th generation BESTRO for bachelor degree and 6th generation for SMA/SMK was attended by the representative from UPT East Java Provincial Education Official, Gresik, Principal of SMA/SMK/MA surrounding company, counselor teacher, and student parents.

Head of Educator and Education Personnel, Kasdari, S.Pd, MM, appreciated Petrokimia Gresik who is consistently give scholarship, through BESTRO or other program. According to Kasdari, what has Petrokimia Kimia done is a form of care from Petrokimia Gresik the improvement of Human Resources, and education, especially in Gresik.

“Petokimia Gresik already contributes in making more capable HR and have thought about how Indonesia is going forward. Petrokimia Gresik not only focuses in their wealth internally but also externally. For that reason, let us pray that Petrokimia Gresik always gets the blessing and protection of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, so that it will be more victorious, " he said

The recipients of BESTRO S1, Muhammad Arief Anugrahan whose study in Brawijaya University Malang, expressing his gratitude for the scholarship assistance received "I thank Petrokimia Gresik for accepting me to get the help of BESTRO S1. Previously, I also received BESTRO high school assistance and encouraged me to get more achievement during school. With BESTRO until graduate later I can focus study and graduate with cumlaude predicate” he said.

While, the representation of Public Relation of SMK NU Gresik conveyed the appreciation to Petrokimia Gresik which already improve the education in Gresik.
