The working visit of the Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Respresentatives, Rachmat Gobel along with Commissions IV and VI to Petrokimia Gresik on Saturday (03/10/20). The arrival of Rachmat Gobel and his entourage was welcomed by the Director of Petrokimia Gresik (PG) at Mustikarasa Café & Restaurant Jalan Tri Dharma Gresik, with strict application of health protocols.
Rachmat Gobel said that this working visit aimed to take a closer look at the company's operations and organization, as well as the research activities and results which was conducted by Petrokimia Gresik. According to him, Petrokimia Gresik has an important role in encouraging agriculture in Indonesia, as well as national development.
"Petrokimia Gresik is not just a fertilizer company, but is a very strategic company in our development context," said Rachmat Gobel.
"For this reason, Commission IV and VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives together encourage Petrokimia Gresik, as well as other fertilizer companies to seriously be able to fulfil our national food needs," he continued.
We must pay serious attention to the sufficiency of national food needs, because we also have to look to the future, how to anticipate a food crisis or world food crisis. Rachmat Gobel said that we could take lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic. Agriculture sustainability and increased productivity must continue to support the national food security program. It is hoped that Petrokimia Gresik can become a global company.
President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo in the event said that Petrokimia Gresik is committed in succeeding the priority program of the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, which is to focus on increasing agricultural productivity during the Covid-19 outbreak.
"The role of the agricultural sector as a food provider is becoming increasingly important and strategic during this Covid-19 pandemic. The agricultural sector is a safety milestone because people really need healthy food as a basic need, as well as to increase body immunity, "said Dwi Satriyo.
