Petrokimia Volleyball Academy Becomes The First Women's Team To Win Nusantara Cup

Petrokimia Volleyball Academy, under the auspices of Petrokimia Gresik, a member of the Pupuk Indonesia Agroindustry Solutions company, clinched the first-place title at the 2024 Nusantara Cup after defeating Kharisma Premium Bandung 3-1 in the Grand Final series at GOR UNY Yogyakarta on Saturday, March 23, 2024, evening. With this victory, Petrokimia Volleyball Academy becomes the first women's team to win the Nusantara Cup 2024.

The Nusantara Cup itself is an invitational tournament among Indonesian school and volleyball academy teams organized by the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI). This year marks the first edition of the championship. Eight women's teams participated in this season's Nusantara Cup. Most of the teams came from schools and volleyball academies that had previously participated in Livoli and Proliga competitions.

Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, praised this remarkable achievement. According to him, this achievement has a positive impact on the company, which is committed to advancing sports in Indonesia, including volleyball.

"We are proud that our women's volleyball team has consistently excelled. After Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia won the Livoli Main Division 2023 title last December and became the Champion of the Central Java Governor's Cup in February 2024, now our academy known as Petrokimia Volleyball Academy has emerged as the best, or Champion 1, in the Nusantara Cup 2024," said Dwi Satriyo.

He also hoped that this victory would motivate all Petrokimia Gresik volleyball players to continue excelling in future competitions. Considering that Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia and Petrokimia Volleyball Academy have been actively participating in various championships, Dwi Satriyo hoped that his athletes could excel at the global level.

"Petrokimia Gresik has been actively nurturing volleyball teams since 2002 by providing comprehensive training facilities and offering intensive coaching guidance. This contribution is one of Petrokimia Gresik's efforts, in collaboration with Pupuk Indonesia, to support the younger generation of the nation in excelling in volleyball sports," Dwi Satriyo emphasized.

Meanwhile, at the 2024 Nusantara Cup, throughout the preliminary rounds, the Petrokimia Volleyball Academy team performed flawlessly. Out of three matches, they secured three victories, remaining unbeaten, thus advancing to the Final Four as the champion of Pool Y. Subsequently, in the Final Four, the Petrokimia Volleyball Academy team ensured their place in the Grand Final after another victory against Elang Laut Subang.

In the final round, the Petrokimia Volleyball Academy won the match against Kharisma Premium Bandung with a score of 3-1. In the first set, the Petrokimia Volleyball Academy initially lost with a score of 17-25. However, they managed to clinch victory in the next three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 26-24, respectively.

Petrokimia Volleyball Academy coach, Shobirin, expressed his gratitude that his players were able to win the 2024 Nusantara Cup. The victory in the final required hard work. He revealed that his players' stamina had declined. Fortunately, in the fourth set, his team managed to secure the win. "It was advantageous for us to gain points at the end of the fourth set," he succinctly remarked.
