Petrokimia Gresik Joins Forces With BUMN National Disaster Task Force In East Java To Rapidly Dispatch First-Phase Aid To Earthquake-Affected Bawean Island

Petrokimia Gresik, a leading Agroindustry Solutions company and a member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding, together with the National Disaster Task Force of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in East Java, has sent aid to assist the basic needs of earthquake victims on Bawean Island, Gresik Regency, East Java. The aid was symbolically dispatched by the CEO of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, from the GOR Tri Dharma Petrokimia Gresik on Saturday (23/3/2024).

Dwi Satriyo conveyed that Petrokimia Gresik, as the Chairman of the National Disaster Task Force of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in East Java, acted swiftly to assist earthquake victims on Bawean Island. Considering the limited access to the island, which is approximately 81 nautical miles from Gresik Port.

"For the first phase of aid that we are sending now, it includes items needed to meet the basic needs of the victims. We have coordinated with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) both in East Java Province and Gresik Regency," said Dwi Satriyo.

The first phase of aid sent includes 50 boxes of instant noodles, 250 cans of sardines, 100 blankets, 50 boxes of mineral water (600 ml packaging), 300 diapers of various sizes for babies or toddlers, medicines, and 30 tarps for the needs of refugees.

"This aid may not yet fulfill all the needs of the victims, but we hope that this initial assistance can reduce the burden and help accelerate the recovery of the earthquake victims on Bawean Island," said Dwi Satriyo.

In addition to goods, Petrokimia Gresik also sent a pioneering team of ten people to Bawean Island, consisting of teams from relevant work units at Petrokimia Gresik, volunteers from the Petrokimia Gresik Employees Union (SKPG), and four medical personnel from PT Petro Graha Medika and Petrokimia Gresik Hospital (RSPG).

"This team will join forces with the local BPBD team to continue coordinating regarding the needs in Bawean," said Dwi Satriyo.

Meanwhile, the earthquake that occurred in the Java Sea with a magnitude of more than 6 SR and hundreds of aftershocks caused damage to the homes of residents. Additionally, several public facilities on Bawean Island, such as mosques, schools, government offices, and hospitals, also suffered damage.

"Let us all pray that there will be no more aftershocks. So that our brothers and sisters in Bawean Island can recover soon," he concluded.
