Petrokimia Gresik plans to partner with Sepuluh Nopember Institute Technology (ITS) in a research collaboration program for its innovative products. This collaboration plan was marked by a joint discussion between the ITS Team and the CEO of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, in Gresik, East Java, Wednesday (16/3).

Dwi Satriyo said that Petrokimia Gresik, member of the Pupuk Indonesia holding, the complete producer of fertilizers and chemicals in Indonesia. Petrokimia Gresik's products have contributed positively to agriculture and the national industry in Indonesia.

"We will continue to innovate to produce superior products in order to maintain national food security, as well as become the market leader and dominant player in the agro-industrial sector", said Dwi Satriyo.

There are four points that will be working on together. First, increasing the acceleration of composting organic matter with bio-decomposers in the Petro Gladiator product. Currently, the composting time with the existing Petro Gladiator bio-decomposer is 10-14 days for organic matter with a high cellulose content (animal manure, TPA organic waste, dry leaves, grass) and 14-30 days for organic matter with a high lignin content (straw, rice husks, corn waste, empty palm oil bunches, wood waste).

Second, the addition of functional microbial biofertilizer Pethrikaphos. The collaboration plan with ITS is focused on adding other useful microbes that can improve the quality and effectiveness of Petrhikaphos products.

Third, the development of allelochemical-based bioherbicide products (allelopathy) from secondary metabolites produced naturally by plant extracts.

Fourth, cooperation with the KedaiReka Matching Fund Program from the Ministry of Education and Culture. KedaiReka brings together industry and universities and supports funding to universities for several types of research.

"Hopefully, this collaboration will run optimally, thereby strengthening Petrokimia Gresik as an Agro-industry Solutions company and boost the spirit of research in the country," said Dwi Satrio.
