Petrokimia Gresik and PWI Gresik Plant Trees to Mitigate Floods and Reduce Emissions

Petrokimia Gresik, an Agroindustrial Solutions company and holding member of the Pupuk Indonesia in collaboration with the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Gresik Regency planted trees to reduce flooding and reduce emissions in Gresik Regency in Pandanan Village, Kec. Duduksampeyan, Gresik, East Java, Wednesday (1/3). This collaboration was carried out by providing tree seedlings to PWI Gresik in the event "Planting Trees, Caring for Life".

Separately, the President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo said that in efforts to manage the environment in Gresik, Petrokimia Gresik is ready to collaborate with many parties so that its programs are the right goal. This assistance is a form of synergy between companies and journalists to reduce the risk of floods that have often occurred in the Gresik region.

"This tree planting activity was also attended by the Regent of Gresik, Mr. Fandi Akhmad Yani. We hope that the environmental management program carried out by the company is also in line with the policies of the Gresik Regency Government (Pemkab), such as the flood prevention program in the Gresik area," said Dwi Satriyo.

He also added, Petrokimia Gresik twice in a row obtained Gold Proper from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia. This achievement is a motivation for the company to improve environmental awareness standards, both related to company cooperation and environmental preservation around the company.

"One of the focuses of the Petrokimia Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program Gresik is environmental management, following the direction of the Minister of SOEs, Mr. Erick Thohir. The assistance of tree seedlings is a real action of Petrokimia Gresik in building an environment in Gresik," he said.

Chairman of PWI Gresik, Ashadi Ikhsan in his speech said that as a result of widening the road along the Pandanan Village road, many trees were cut down. Therefore reforestation is needed.

"The collaboration with Petrokimia Gresik and other companies collected 250 tabebuya trees, which has advantages in reducing emissions," he said.

While the Chairman of the Gresik DPRD, Much. Abdul Qodir who was also present at the event appreciated this activity. According to him, the availability of cleaner air is determined by how the community maintains the quality of the environment. This will be beneficial to the human order of life.

In line with the Chairman of the Board, Gresik Regent, Fandi Akhmad Yani also appreciated Petrokimia Gresik who continues to contribute to the Gresik community. Replanting trees is an issue that must be promoted massively.

For information, in addition to the assistance of these tree seeds, Petrokimia Gresik is also actively contributing to reforestation in Gresik Regency through a mangrove land restoration program in Mengare, Kali Lamong, to the End of Pangkah.
